Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) has today released PlayStation 4 system software update 3.11 for users to download. The update weighs in at approximately 238.8MB.
Don't get too excited though, as the update is only a minor update, with Sony's patch notes simply reading, “System software stability during use of some features has been improved.” Yes, it's a small update, but you'll need to download it in order to reach the PlayStation Store or game online; in other words, it's pretty much mandatory, so you had better grab it as soon as possible.
Sony has been rolling out a series of minor updates since the release of update 3.00, which was among the PS4's most significant updates thus far. Prior to that, the console received another major patch in the shape of 2.50, which introduced the Suspend/Resume feature to Sony's current-generation console as well as Back-up and Restore. The most recent update, 3.10, allowed users to follow officially verified accounts by adding them to their PS4 Friends List. The next major PS4 update has yet to be detailed, but Sony is attempting to gauge user interest by asking consumers what features they want to see from a future patch.
Among the most requested features among PS4 owners include PSOne and PS2 Classics, being notified when friends come online, plus the ability to change your PlayStation Network ID.
Sony has recently celebrated a bumper showcase at Paris Games Week late last month, where the console maker unveiled a slew of new games including Detroit, Tekken 7, DriveClub Bikes, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, and Gran Turismo Sport. In addition, the company also revealed the debut trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End's multiplayer component, and confirmed that the online portion to Drake's final chapter will run at 900p/60fps. PlayStation VR also got its time in the limelight during Sony's press conference, although we're still no closer to finding out a release date and price for the device.
