Rockstar working on Red Dead Redemption 2, says former employee

Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently in development at Rockstar Games, according to a former studio employee, Danny Ross.

Ross dropped the hint during a Reddit AMA, where he was asked by gamers what Rockstar is currently working on. His response? A rather blunt, "Really, Dumbass Really? Two."

The ‘two’ refers to a sequel to the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption, which has been rumoured for some time now. Nothing official has been confirmed yet, although Take-Two has said that the publisher’s various studios are working on a number new titles, including sequels to existing franchises as well as new IP.

Red Dead Redemption was released in May 2010 on PS3 and Xbox 360, attracting critical acclaim in the process and becoming one of the most successful video games of the last console generation. As of August 2015, the game has shipped 14 million units worldwide, and has been widely hailed as reinvigorating the wild west genre in gaming culture.  Rockstar supported Red Dead Redemption with a number of great content additions, including the zombie-focused Undead Nightmare, as well as a brilliant multiplayer suite.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has been rumoured for some time now, with Rockstar Games admitting a sequel to the wild west adventure is done to a matter of timing. On the flip side, it has been suggested the game won’t be out anytime soon, with the studio instead reportedly focusing on new IP. One rumor has the sequel introducing co-op into the mix, although obviously, we’ll have to wait and see what Rockstar has in store for a potential follow-up.
