Just when it seemed like the rumours of PS4k were waning, the COO of GameStop, Tony Bartel, has stoked the flickering flames by saying he sees new hardware launch is ‘’imminent’’.
As mentioned in a post on Gamespot (for confusion points), Bartel made comments concerning multiple hardware launches at yesterday's GameStop Investor/Analyst Day. Bartel went on to explain that the company had not truly factored in potential new consoles or VR hardware for its presentation, but felt positive about it if true.
"Although we have not modeled extensive growth for new innovation in this presentation, we are very pleased to see the introduction of technology like virtual reality and rumored new console launches, some of which seem imminent."
When asked if this was regarding just Nintendo’s new console, the NX, or the release of the oft-rumoured upgrades to the PS4 and Xbox One, a GameStop executive said, "as usual, we know more than we can share".
Interestingly, during the presentation, a slide seemed to show plans alluding to the release of multiple new consoles, forecasting $15 billion in sales over the next two years.

So, a slip of the tongue or a quote out of context? It seems the '‘imminent’' comment could mean an E3 reveal, which takes place in two months time in LA. Whether the PS4k is one such reveal remains to be seen, but the evidence is certainly starting to mount in favour of a reveal sooner rather than later.
We also touched upon PS4k recently on our podcast PlayStation Unchained should you wish to hear thoughts on that.
