Kingdom Hearts 3 may introduce character customisation provided fans want it, the game’s producer has said.
Speaking during an interview with Dengeki PlayStation, Tetsuya Nomura said that the team has other priorities when it comes to the hotly anticipated Disney-RPG sequel, but will consider adding the feature depending on how it’s received in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage
“We knew we could insert that feature into the game this time, but whether or not we can with [KHIII]…we have other priorities ahead of us so it depends on time, but we’ll look at the reaction with [KH0.2] and consider it,” said Nomura-san.
Kingdom Hearts 3 release date is still to be decided
Kingdom Hearts 0.2 forms part of the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue, which also includes a full high-definition revamp of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance and the cinematic offering, Kingdom Hearts x Back Cover. The package arrives exclusively on PlayStation 4 on January 24, 2017.
As for Kingdom Hearts 3, we’re still no closer to finding out a release date for the long-awaited title, although now that development has wrapped on Final Fantasy XV, we imagine Square Enix will be able to put its full attention towards Sora’s next adventure. The game was announced back at E3 2013 during Sony’s press conference, although it’s pretty obvious the title was in the very early stages of development at the time, as we’ve seen very little on the project since.
Kingdom Hearts celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, so hopefully we’ll receive some new information on the third numbered installment soon enough. Still, PS4 owners have plenty to look forward to regardless, as aside from the aforementioned Final Chapter Prologue, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 HD ReMIX are hitting Sony’s current-generation console later this year.
