Ubisoft has released a new Watch Dogs 2 update that potentially hints at a sequel to the acclaimed open-world hacking title.

Watch Dogs 3 on the way?

The new 10GB patch features a host of bug fixes, as well as adding new clothes, and prepares the game for the impending release of post-launch downloadable content. However, rather intriguingly, it also includes a brand new sequence for the game’s ending cutscene, which may or may not set up the series for a third outing.

We’ll go into detail on the ending here, so do not read any further unless you have completed Watch Dogs 2, or aren’t bothered about spoiling some details for yourselves.

The ending itself is largely the same as before, with Marcus Holloway teaming up with his Dedsec buddies to take down the Big Bad, which results in them broadcasting their beliefs of information freedom around the globe. However, instead of immediately returning players to the game allowing them to tackle any remaining side quests, we’re treated to a new sequence involving a conversation between two mysterious characters. Here’s what they have to say:

Man 1: How much of this is hyperbole? Has it really gone global?

Man 2: There are new Dedsec cells popping up everywhere. The Middle East, South America, Europe. And not just them. We can’t even keep up with all the new hacktivist groups.

Man 1: Alright. Make the call.

Man 2: You Sure?

Man 1: Do it.

Interestingly, their conversation window displays some coordinates that, when entered into Google Maps, appears to lead to Brixton, London. Could this hint at a potential location for Watch Dogs 3? Or does it pertain to the aforementioned DLC? Right now we don’t have an answer, but from what we gather, Watch Dogs 2’s expansion will take place in San Francisco, so it could be something new altogether.

Ubisoft’s word on the matter is as follows: “The production team wanted to include a little something extra at the end of the campaign to expand the Watch Dogs lore and hint at the potential future of DedSec.”
