The latest issue of Game Informer has spilled a tantalizing batch of new Call of Duty WW2 details, confirming gamers will be able to take part in a number of iconic battles during the single-player campaign.

Chiefly, players will take part in the D-Day landings in June 1944, which proved one of the bloodiest battles of the entire conflict as allied soldiers stormed the beaches at Normandy while under a hail of gunfire from German troops.

The publication describes the tone of the D-Day mission as similar to that of Saving Private Ryan, which shouldn’t really come as a surprise considering that has been the template for numerous video game adaptations of the infamous mission. There’s also talk of intimate hand-to-hand combat between allied and axis troops, which is described as pretty brutal by GI’s article.

Elsewhere, Call of Duty WW2 will also let players impersonate a Nazi soldier during the mission known as Wolf’s Den, where you are tasked with infiltrating a German base. GI notes that the player will be required to interact with enemy troops in the correct manner in order to maintain your cover.

Michael Condrey of developer Sledgehammer Games commented, “It was important for us to balance the authenticity of the game and era, and the dark notes that come with the genocide that the Nazis brought to bear. We need to balance and respect that but also recognize this is a piece of entertainment and not dishonor the loss of life that happened there.”

Elsewhere, the game also sees players taking part in battles across Europe as they make their way across France and towards Berlin along the Rhine. In addition, Call of Duty WW2 also includes other major battles of the conflict, including taking part in Operation Cobra among others.

Call of Duty WW2 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on November 3, 2017. The Call of Duty WW2 beta will be kicking off later this summer for PS4 owners, and those of you who participate will receive some in-game bonus content when the full game launches.

Outside of the main campaign and multiplayer, the upcoming first-person shooter will also see the return of the fan-favorite Nazi Zombies mini-game, which was originally introduced in 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War.
