Destiny 2 Faction Rallies announced, Dead Orbit and more return

Bungie has announced details on Destiny 2 Faction Rallies, a new event that will complement the shared-world shooter’s weekly activities alongside the Nightfall and Flashpoint.

Faction Rallies will commence on September 26 at 2.00am PST/5.00am EST as part of the weekly reset, and signal the return of the three factions – Dead Orbit, Future War Cult, and New Monarchy – from the original game.

Here, players pick a faction of their choice, after which the rallies involve them obtaining supplies for their chosen faction while eliminating enemy resources. In addition, completing Lost Sectors, Strikes, Public Events, or Crucible matches will earn them Faction Tokens.

These can be exchanged for loot packages that include various items including weapons, armor, and shaders that are unique to that particular Faction.

Each Faction possesses a special weapon to obtain, namely the Dead Orbit Scout Rifle, Future War Cult Pulse Rifle, and the New Monarchy Sidearm. These will be offered by emerging victorious in the Faction Rallies, where you can pick them up for 1,000 Glimmer.

If you did not pledge your allegiance to a particular Faction but still want the weapon, you can buy them for a much higher price of 50,000 Glimmer.

Those of you who regularly played the original Destiny should feel right at home here, as all three Factions previously awarded players with unique gear after increasing reputation with your chosen Faction. The more your rep increased, the more valuable gear you were able to purchase.

Bungie recently announced Destiny 2 update 1.0.3 will be rolled out early next week, and will be preceded by a round of server maintenance. Be sure to check out the Xur location and inventory for today to see what gear the Agent of the Nine is flogging this week.
