If you love Rock Band, you're in for possibly the most exciting announcement in a long while (with some added sticker shock on the side). Introducing the Ion Drum Rocker, the most advanced drum controller ever conceived.
This premium Rock Band 2 controller comes in at a whopping $299, but if you love the drums, it appears you have no choice but to sucker up and buy a set. Developed by engineers at Alesis, one of the largest manufacturers of professional electronic drums in the world, the Drum Rocker offers a professional aluminum drum rack that is unrivaled in all aspects.

First off, the pads are super high-quality. Sporting velocity-sensing tech and more realistic rebound, you can whack these things into oblivion and come out fine. As for the the snare, tom and cymbal pads, you're able to position them wherever you please (Note: two cymbals included, one is an extra accessory). Finally, put the pedal to the metal with, well, a metal pedal. No more broken plastic here, just a beautiful looking kick drum with a proper amount of tension that won't slide around.
As the icing on the proverbial cake of awesomeness, whenever you get tired of Rock Band, you can use these bad boys with one of the professional drum brains made by Alesis and play them as a real electronic drum kit. That further proves their versatile and realistic design.
So, a $299 drum controller? Yes, yes it is. A brilliant and price-justified $299 drum controller? Yep.

I'm not buying this for sure! That's really pricey. Though it does sound fun.

For those of you that missed Snowspader's comment, "THE 'CONTROLLER' FUNCTIONS AS AN ELECTRONIC DRUM KIT AS WELL." I won't be buying this mostly because I don't have the money and because I don't have Rock Band. Either way, this electronic drum kit is definitely worth the price considering that it is much, much more than just a controller. Bad-ass.

@1solidsnake i agree that its expensive, but i disagree that whoever buys this is a loser, i mean you certainly wouldn't buy it because by your standards and budget its out of your price range, but if a fellow has different standards and budget which allow him to go out and buy a $300+ drum controller it doesn't make him/her a loser.....its all about who can afford to get it without compromising things, would it be fair to call you a loser because your pockets aren't steep enough to buy the $300+ drum controller?.....did'nt think so

I guess I'm in the minority from the posts, but I will definatly be buying this drumset, pricey? honestly? who else paid $600 for thier PS3? A show of hands? If you don't want it don't buy it, but a real electric drumkit that also functions in RB2, why would it be less than $299 is my question.

@TheMaster, i feel exactly the way you do, all people do is complain about the price tag and fail to take into account whether said product is worth it or not....same thing with the ps3 at $600 i was one of the early adopters and to this day i don't regret my purchase of my 60GB ps3 purchased 12/28/06....

thats really awesome but i would never spend 300 bucks on them although the fact that you can use them as real drums (if you buy the additional brain of course) makes them alot more worth the price tag

I'm kind of surprised at the negativity in regards to this article. If you don't want it, don't buy it. But as with the PS3 there are things that DO cost money. Not everything can be either free or cheap. Stop ragging on those that HAVE the cash for things like this. Video gaming can be an expensive hobby. But then again So is Scuba Diving, which is what I do, and I don't complain. And yes I've a PS3. And no, I'm not interested in either RB or GH. If I wanted to play guitar, I'd just learn it.

wow this is actually pretty cheap, i might consider it, i've wanted an electronic drumset since i can't lug my real drumset in appartments. I'll have to wait and see some reviews on how it is as an electronic drum set, the fact that it works with rockband is only a bonus.
By the way, the one's that say it's pricy and only a loser would buy this are out of their mind, they either didn't read it properly or don't know what the price of an electronic drum set is, or the price of a real drum set for that matter.

def gonna buy these. i guess im in the minority too. it is a little pricey but i can put a little away every week and have ths baby in a month. i have always been a drummer and sold my old set a while back. this will bring back so many memories. oh and when i sold my old8 peice set 5 years ago, i sold it for $400 so this will be a good deal for all those who think they are over priced. again read the whole topic, this is not just a controller, its a functioning drum set!

Im so gonna buy this. the way i see its worth it is cuz its much better made than the drums that come with RB. I'm on my second set of drums, and EA wouldn't replace them cuz the damage was from wear and tear.................. didn't even last a year. :(
so if i can spend $299 on something thats better made and will last longer PLUS can be used as an electric drum kit, It's worth it. I'm not rich but one thing in life is that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR
