Sony backing "Develop Conference" in UK

30 November 2005

The event titled, "Develop in Brighton" will course for two days, 12th and 13th of July next year in Brighton Metropole hotel, on the south coast of England. Latest details released from Tandem Events, the organizer of the conference, says Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is confirmed as the platinum sponsor.

Sony's partnership in the event involves everything associated with the conference. According to Tandem, the console giant is also expected to have a huge space at the show floor. Representatives from across the development community in UK and Europe should also be present. Some of the high-profile developers were appointed to an advisory board.

The full list of advisory members is as follows(in no particular order). The list is expected to increase.

  • Peter Molyneux (Lionhead)
  • Tameen Antonaides (Ninja Theory)
  • Paulina Bozek (SCEE)
  • Jamie McDonald (SCEE)
  • Colin Anderson (Denki)
  • Owain Bennallack
  • Tancred Dyke Wells (Kuju Entertainment)
  • Andrew Eades (Relentless)

  • David Lau-Kee (EA)

Vice President of development at SCEE London and Cambridge studios, Jamie Macdonald explained the reason for Sony's support, "The Develop Conference is shaping up to become a major diary date in the European development calendar and we're going to give it our full support"

According to Tandem's managing director Andy Lane, "Sony's endorsement is a clear example of how the conference makes sense to the development community and a reflection of the positive response we've been receiving." He added that Sony's involvement in the conference gives it a "real momentum".

As our readers can see, some big industry names are present on the advisory panel. A name like Peter Molyneux shouldn't be foreign to anyone. And Tameem Antonaides is the lead developer working on Heavenly Sword, a next-generation title for Sony PlayStation 3.

If you're a developer or a student and want to register for the event in advance, go to www.developconference.com for details. We'll share more when it appears.
