According to YouTube footage and comments made on the GameSpot forums, a number of gamers based in the United Arab Emirates have managed to get their hands on copies of Killzone 2 two weeks prior to its official release date.
Based in Dubai, a YouTube member by the name of moiNinja has uploaded footage of Killzone 2 being unwrapped from its original box. He claims that he bought the copy at his local game store.
"I couldn't believe myself when I first saw it in a local videogame store. It was Killzone 2 the full game. [Two] weeks before the release date. The salesman told me that they managed to bring only 70 copies of Killzone 2, and they all sold out in just [five] hours... He reserved one copy for me..." reads the post.
Further research took us to a post on the GameSpot forums, where claims are also coming in from members based in Dubai who have already got copies of the game, with photographic evidence taken by one member going by the name of 77slr77. Another poster claims that it is being sold by a number of small gaming shops across the United Arab Emirates.
Lucky them, eh? We'd guess that Sony will probably turn a blind eye to the broken street date, but you can guarantee that if any shop were dare to sell it before the release date in North America or Europe, Sony's lawyers would be onto them like whippets.
Killzone 2 is due for official release on February 25 in Europe, and February 27 in North America.

I've never heard of a game dev or publisher (i'm not saying it may of never happened how ever) actually taking action against a store thats broken the street date, the worst i've heard of is MS banning 360 accounts. Once some ones got the game its near impossible for the dev/publishers to know where exactly it came from.

@ 8 ....
Thats because they've got that Arab Moneyyyyy!!! But honestly...is there nothing those guys can't get? Those pics and video were probably sent by young members of the royal family...who more than likely could have bought those copies for $1000 a pop from Sony. Money talks, and with the current world financial status, I wouldn't blame Sony if this was really the case. Then again all of this is just my assumed opinion (no facts people) lol

I never understood it. Why would sony or M ban users who bought a game that was on the shelf. Is it your fault the idiot at the store put it on the shelf. What if you, by some small chance, had never heard of the game and happen to be in the store when they put it on the shelf. You pick one up after the sales person sells you on it and get home to only be banned two days later. I thinks its a bunch of garbage.

i'm pretty sure MS banned people because they had illegal pirated copies of games before they were released. i really doubt sony would ban someone who purchased a copy at a store. they would most likely go after the store owners for selling early.

In India the game is being put on the shelves with Sony's consent.
Reason being Dubai is the biggest source of grey market here and the they will soon be flooded with imported KZ2 copies because the street date is broken.
So to counter that, the game is being released here early so more people actually go for the legitimate copies.
