Activision hopes Modern Warfare 2 is 'biggest selling game of all time'

Activision has set its sights on making the eagerly anticipated Modern Warfare 2 the hottest entertainment commodity on the market this holiday season, with the publisher hopeful the sequel becomes the ‘biggest selling videogame of all time.’
Speaking to MCV, brand manager Simon Wells commented: “Each year the Call of Duty franchise goes from strength-to-strength.”
“We want to propel this year's title to be the biggest selling video game of all time. That may raise some eyebrows, but step back and look at the franchise's trajectory through preceding launches, and this objective starts to look viable.”
Modern Warfare 2 is currently pencilled in for a November 2009 release and will be backed by an extensive marketing campaign – something Wells feels will propel the game to the status of no.1 entertainment property of the year.
“We firmly believe we have the potential to be the No.1 entertainment property of the year. The reality for a franchise as large as Call of Duty is that we are competing directly with entertainment propositions outside of the video game space,” he added.

lol, thats about it lol, itl sell exactly same as cod4 because everyone who liked that type of game already has it, therfor the amount itl sell will be exactly same as cod4 if not a tiny bit higher, but not much, yes im not saying its gonna be a big seller, but biggest selling game of all time? lol, stfu and stop dreaming.

hmmm. me personally will not buy this game why because most likely it will be exactly like cod4 with better graphics and some extra little stuff , but i have no doubt that this game will sell good why because its multiplatform and mostly everybody that who has recently bought a console and have never played online will see this game as wow!! i

BREAKING NEWS - As it turns out, ALL videogame developers/publishers hope that their game will be the biggest selling of all time. Sorry... had to poke fun at that ridiculous headline. I'm sure it will sell well since most people seem content to play the same mindless online FPS over and over with different graphics and sound. I will buy it mainly for the single player, because the prospect of another run and gun online shooter doesn't do anything for me anymore. Biggest selling game of all time? Possible... (yawn)

about the best selling game of all time thing, I have no idea what the standing are so I'm not sure. I do know that there are thousands and thousands of people playing cod4 and 5 at any given moment. sweet

@ #3, no, GTA:SA sold more than Halo 3. I doubt it will be the "best selling game" either, if they are not bringing anything new to the table.

i dnt really get what they mean by biggest selling of all time. Like in the first few release days? The mario franchise has sold over 200million but i dunno whats the highest number sold for one game.

If the single player is as dark as the first MW and the multiplayer is just as competitive then maybe.COD4 is a great game.I thought the teaser for MW2 was badass.Infinity ward means quality.
