Capcom has finally slapped a name on Dead Rising 2’s zombie slaying protagonist. According to the latest issue of Famitsu, the unlucky shopper taking over from the original game’s Frank West is a chap named Chuck Greene.

The publication goes on to confirm that the sequel will utilize the same 72 hour formula applied in the first game, and, as previously confirmed, will be handheld by Vancouver-based studio Blue Castle Games.

Expect nothing short of breath-taking number of rotting corpses on screen though, with the company boasting, “Dead Rising 2 deal[s] with the rendering of the greatest number of characters ever seen in a video game... Everything else needed to be subordinated to this requirement."

Keep those eyes peeled for more info on Dead Rising 2 at Capcom’s annual Captivate event this week.

I am a still dubious about 6000+ zombies on screen.

They better not be trying to gip us and have like 5500 in the far off back ground and look like ants.

Has this even been confirmed for the PS3? I liked the first one alot and wished they ported it over so I'm hoping they make it for PS3 also.

It is confirmed for PS3, But as much as I liked the first one, some of the boss fights (mostly without the zombies) were not very inventive.  But otherwise, I loved it.

Controls of the original are horrible, and clunky.

If they've fixed it for number two. I might be interested...

Is there a link or source saying this is confirmed? I haven't heard ANYTHING saying for sure that it was coming to PS3. All I've heard was a "maybe" for Lost Planet 2.

I'm really looking forward to this game.  The first one looked fun but due to it being a 360 exclusive I missed out.

There can never be enough zombie games.

I love the idea of a great zombie game; however, not getting the option to play the first Dead Rising on PS3 kind of detours me.  I don't really know if the first one was even good???

The first one was a pretty good game. I had a lot of fun playing it. Needed a few things fixed but this one looks like an improvement. I heard this one has 2 players too. Pretty nice feature.
