Thanks to the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete Blu-ray set, which included the PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy XIII demo, the PlayStation 3 has spent yet another month in Japan as the region's top-selling console.

Famitsu publisher Enterbrain has posted the most recent monthly Japanese sales figures, which put the PS3 in the lead over the Wii and Xbox 360. According to Enterbrain, the PS3 moved 108,530 consoles, compared to the Wii's 67,116 and the Xbox 360's 27,381.

Could this be a new trend or just a lucky couple of months? With Sony planning to unleash it's biggest E3 yet, it will be exciting to see what happens.

    Is so consistant how people in Japan buy consoles as a DIRECT result of the games they want, as opposed to the price.  If FF13 was multiplat in Japan, The 360 would be dominating.  I think Japanese gamers are gearing up for what's to come.

     no 360 would not be dominate in japan if it was multiplat due to the fact that they are smart and dont want a 6disc game that will not be as good on the 360

    ^^^ because they are casual gamers, who don't care about the details like graphics etc and find the fact that the Wii is motion control absolutely amazing and feel they are at the forefront of gaming. muppets.

    no it wouldn't. japanese gamers don't like foreign stuff much. For example whenever there's japanese game released, that's even little above average, everyone in japan runs and buy it.
    Well atleast that's what it seems to be.

    So in NA, the "hardware" of the Wii sells consoles instead of software then right?

    @12,

    I'm sure Microsoft is heavily relying on its Halo 3: ODST which is going to be a big flop much like Halo Wars.  They're going to milk a franchise until it's a prune, like Guitar Hero.  Nintendo will make another Super Mario Galaxy.. The twist?  YOU CAN ALTERNATE DIMENSIONS AND PLAY IN A CLASSIC, OLD-SCHOOL 2-D ENVIRONMENT!!!!  It'll also include random various ways to make yourself look like a dink by flailing your controller, aimlessly.  FOR GREAT SALES COMPS!

    If only this trend would translate to american sales. Playstation 3 sales would be crazy if final nfantasy XIII stayed exclusive.

     now we need the Monster Hunter 3 exclusive, That would put them #1 permanently in Japan. Monster Hunter on PS2 was highly slept on, Best RPG I have ever played. Does anyone know if it is still online? I still have my copy, but playing offline is boring.

    I still don't understand why people buy 360s!? No Home, not backwards compatible, white exterior. And so what if the online is better on 360-- who goes online anyway. And have to pay 4 dollars a month! Thats a candybar every week! Yeah, I don't think so.

    awesome.this is not a luck streak,it`s a wake up for japanese gamers,all what`s left is for north america to realise that the 360 is just a worthless piece of crap(compared to ps3)@6@7 the wii is a just  next-gen cheap ps2,that`s why it sells well in north america,plus there`s a high precentage of fat people in that region,maybe people there are combining sports and games together,perhaps...............
