Rockstar has confirmed that portable crime romp Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be unleashed for PSP this fall.
Developed by British studio Rockstar Leeds, Chinatown Wars was originally released for Nintendo DS earlier this year, and will be available for Sony users on both UMD and as a digital download.
Rockstar founder Sam Houser commented: "We're proud to extend this truly unique handheld Grand Theft Auto experience to PSP and offer a downloadable version of Chinatown Wars for PSPgo.”
"Rockstar Leeds has shown incredible talent in creating games that raise the bar in terms of depth and innovation on portables, and with Chinatown Wars we have a rich, fast-paced, and incredibly addictive entry into the series."
The game will take special advantage of the PSP’s innards, boasting upscaled widescreen visuals, meatier lighting and animation effects and all-new story missions. Let’s hope it’ll prove more popular on Sony’s handheld than DS, as initial sales figures weren't exactly encouraging.

And whats next?
The PSP version ported to PS2?
Sorry i already have GTA CW on DS, won´t buy it again just for graphics (losing the pretty cool touchscreen "minigames").
Don´t get me wrong it´s nice for everyone that only has a psp - i just wish there were more games for PSP worth buying :(

Nice. Now if I could only get Mario games on my PSP I wouldn't have to get a DSi.

I really did not think they would cut it on the PSP but I unexpectedly enjoyed both LCS & VC S and although I would like SAS this should be a good substitute.

Wow... That piece of trash doesn't deserve to be on PSP. That's what they get for making it a DS exclusive to begin with, LOW SALES. Nobody wants a watered down PS1 GTA that has graphics resembling what I **** out of the toilet, especially not a story about some people from "Commie-town".

Lol, wow. Didn't Nintendo make a huge deal out of this when it was coming out for the DS? Really sucks to see great exclusive titles on the portable do so poorly.

@Overcast
Dude,but that's the point,it has a top down view,which basically means that if you loved GTA 1,then you might actually enjoy this,GTA was,is,and will always be about the ultimate free form freedom offered by a particular device,seriously if you HAVE played GTA VCS on the psp,you should know what i'm talking about,and PLZ ppl stop this "GFX not as important as gameplay" cuz if the quality any ONE of the two isn't as good as the other.then the game just feels broken,unless the series TRIES to be old school in it's looks,like Atlus rpg sprites or games like Patapon and Parappa and Loco Roco and echocrome and... you get the picture,the thing is you look at games like GoW,Gears,Uncharted,Crysis,Assassin's Creed and the like and the thing is these games are only as fun as they are,becuz the gameplay is on par with the GFX and the GFX are on par with the gameplay,it's situations like these when both compliment each other's qualities.If ppl thought the GFX weren't as important as gameplay,then we wouldn't have had a N64 or ps1/2/3 or ANY new generation,if a machine has all the capabilities of a nex gen console but displays 8 bit GFX i doubt that ANY AAA title on that machine (even if the gameplay was much more diversed than any AAA ps3 title) would sell as much as GTA IV or CoD MW.
