Square Enix has revealed that PSP action/RPG romp Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII has surpassed the two million sales mark.

According to the company’s Q1 2010 financial report, the critically acclaimed handheld title has sold approximately 2.16 million units globally as of June 30, 2009. The game hit Japan in late 2007, with a western release following in spring of last year.

See below to view how well the game performed in each individual territory:

Japan - 840,000 units
North America - 770,000 units
Europe - 550,000 units

Serving as a prequel to the original Final Fantasy VII (released on PlayStation in 1997) Crisis Core pits gamers in control of Zack; a young mercenary serving in an elite military unit named SOLIDER, who joins fellow members Sephiroth and Angeal on a mission to locate their missing comrades.

    @3

    This is the 2nd or 3rd best selling PSP game worldwide so it's pretty amazing for a Japaese RPG to be that high.

    I think thats pretty good considering the psp wasn't mega popular when it was released, even if it was an FF7 title. Dissidia will easily top this (I hope) with sony's larger focus on the handheld. :)

    This game was awesome. Just so you idiots know (such as you mr.3) the level system was not random. You did gain exp, which added to your "possible level." as your possible level and actuall level get farther appart (and not as much as you would think) the chaces of landing a level up are greater. You can still land a level up when your possible and current are the same however. It was just an interesting twist that didnt stop me from having a great time. So STFU.
