There’s little doubt that Americans are not as interested in soccer as the rest of the world. But that doesn’t stop them from buying and playing soccer videogames. In the U.S., the Major League Soccer has its own set of stars, and two of them will grace the cover of the North American release of FIFA Soccer 10.
Electronic Arts today announced that Cuauhtémoc Blanco of Chicago Fire and Sacha Kljestan of Chivas USA will be featured on the front packs of FIFA Soccer 10. The pair will join Chelsea’s world-class midfielder Frank Lampard, who will also appear on the cover of European releases.
Blanco, who has represented Mexico at two FIFA World Cups, is a midfielder for Chicago and two-time MLS All-Star. His ‘Blanco Bounce’ move, in which he jumps with the ball held between his feet to escape defenders, is a featured skill in FIFA Soccer 10.
Kljestan is an attacking midfielder who has appeared in 12 matches for the full U.S. National Team. In his third year in MLS, Kljestan led Chivas USA in scoring, named Team MVP, chosen as an MLS All-Star, and played for the United States Olympic Team.
FIFA Soccer 10 will feature the first-ever true 360-degree dribbling system to give players finer ball control. The new Freedom in Physical Play concept allows players to perform wider dribble touches and new the new collision sharing creates less predictable possessions.
The game is set to hit retailers in North America on October 20 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, PC, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, and Wii.

@17 Cuauhtémoc Blanco is one of the most popular players in Mexico and seeing how Americans don't really like the sport they should have Brazilian, Argentinian and Mexican players on the cover. And 7, your crazy, it's just a game and last I checked your team hasn't won anything so I'd keep it shut if I were you.

@22 Yeah it does, but it's just like fifa 08 and 07 (for 360) they were almost identical, I guess we won't see a true update till fifa 11. I wonder if we'll have ultimate team for this too, as that was one of the best "add-ons" for this game. @23 It's Chivas USA, but seeing as how it's owned by the same people I guess it count as the real thing. on a personal note, I love this franchise, and I've never played PES but I here it's good too.

Oh great another idiot (comment no. 7) letting the UK down. Dont pay attention to him! Football (not soccer as you americans wrongfully call it) is a fantastic sport, but I also think that baseball is a brilliant sport as well. Our sports can live in harmony. Although our sport comes with fanatical supporters that come with gangs that beat the other teams gang up for fun!

Funny how americans always start a football (soccer) related article with the following "There’s little doubt that Americans are not as interested in soccer as the rest of the world" or some other statement of that type.
The fact is that MSL is doing fine... the average spectator number of the MSL is only 9.000 lower at an average than Italian serie A and 17.00 lower than Premier division of Spain which both have 5 teams more than the MSL.
The three higest ranked Clubs in the MSL have on average more spectators that most European clubs and the sport is also the largest sport in Hign School.
I know that the commercial breakthrough in televison is hard over there due to the structure of the game. But it seems like enough people in the US are interested and there is abosolutley now reason why they should not be.
