Sony will ‘soon’ release firmware update (v3.10) for the PlayStation 3. As recently speculated, the next firmware update will include Facebook integration, a revamped photo section, and a change to the PlayStation Network Friends List.
With the new firmware, you’ll have the option to link your PSN account directly to your Facebook account. You will have the option for your PS3 to automatically update your Facebook News Feed with Trophy and PlayStation Store activity. Sony also says that this new integration enables developers to publish game information to your News Feed. If constant PSN updates to your Facebook account don’t sound too appealing, you’ll have the option to turn this feature off.
The firmware update will also change the Photo category on the XMB, essentially making it easier to see more of your photos. Back when Sony released firmware update 3.00, many owners complained about the PSN Friends List. Sony has responded to this feedback by modifying the Friends List, and allowing you to choose a color for you PSN ID on the XMB.
The update is coming soon, but we don’t have an official release date. Check out this video preview below.

Decent update, I use Facebook all the time but I seriously would not like my game posting a status all the time because I'd look like a right pleb! :L

Not sure if ill be using this application, Im no real fan of Facebook or any of these social networking (i.e Twitter, Myspace etc).
And having my Facebook tell everyone i know that ive won a thropy, or playing a game, etc.. im not sure id want that.
But i suppose it had to come, soon we'll have Refrigerators with facebook going "Wallin has just take a Red Bull out of the fridge" everyime you take something... -.- The Future is grim..

yet another pointless update that doesnt address core issues with this console and its online community... so many obvious things are still missing from the PS3 that should be so easy to implement! what exactly do the Firmware dev team spend all their time and resources doing?!

The only thing I would want is an option to bring back the original XMB interface (smaller fonts, startup sequence, the game start chime, etc) . What i'm really wanting is the option to take in-game screenshots. Sony really should have taken on that responsibility instead of saddling the developers with it. No 3rd party developer will implement that feature if it remains "optional only".

This is a GREAT way for Sony to push the PS3. Every facebook update about a PS3 game is a cool way to brag, but also a cool form of advertisement for the PS3
@21 I totally agree!

@31
As a college student, I can probably count on one hand the number of people I know that don't have a facebook. Sorry you don't have any friends to need a facebook account.

I just want them to do a firmware update that does everything I want and nothing that I don't want and I want it to take out all the things that are already there that I don't like. WAAAA WAAAAA WAAAAA I am going to boycott till I get what I want and I am refusing to update till I get what I want. WAAAAA WAAAAA WAAAAA. Sony never listens to their customers and they don't do what I want all the time. I hate having the Facebook icon on my XMB and I won't buy another Sony product until they give me the option to remove it. WAAAA WAAAA WAAAAA. And I hate the sparkles TAKE AWAY THE SPARKLES! WAAAA WAAAA WAAAA.
Ok now that that is out of the way do you think we can refrain from doing it when the update comes out? Ok thanks bye

Please tell me theres someting cool in this, I dont care if it integrates with facebook, but other than in game music and maybe supporting some kinds of dvr features with a tv tuner, there isnt much Im waiting for. and FIX THE BROWSER, give us a firefox that supports really streaming content.
