PS3 firmware (v3.10) update arrives today

Sony Computer Entertainment America announced that firmware update 3.10 will be released today. As reported earlier in the week, the biggest update includes a new Facebook integration, which allows you to automatically post Trophy and your PSN status on your Facebook account. Sony dubs this update as a way to “enhance the online social experiences” of PlayStation 3 owners.
"Launching Facebook for the PlayStation community is a natural fit for our goal of delivering unparalleled connected experiences - from connecting our community to each other to connecting our customers to great entertainment downloaded from the PlayStation Store," said Susan Panico, senior director, PlayStation Network, SCEA. "As we pass the third anniversary of PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Network, we're excited to deepen the social experiences of PlayStation Network and kick-off the first phase of our integration with Facebook."
Other updates include a new way to view your photos and a redesigned friends list. European PS3 owners can catch-up on TV with faster access to on-demand TV sites like RTVE, Antena 3 and LaSexta – Spain. Check out the European PS Blog for more on the TV updates.

Anyway a welcome update, im a pretty heavy facebook/twitter user so the more diverse sony can get the better :)

"face book rubbish just copying wot xbox is doing we need gross chat and movies lets go forward not backwards lets face it we all use face book on are pc and lap top no need use it on are console"
just because you dont have much use for facebook, doesnt mean others dont either. IMO the fact that Sony is constantly updating the system to try and meet the needs of everyone is a great thing.

playstation 3 has always had a web browser, therefore always had access to facebook and twitter and myspace and basically almost everything on the internet. so how is that copying the egg-box? i doubt i'd use it much, if at all, but they are giving people what they want and it's free, unlike the egg-box, where you have to pay to be a gold-member. keep all the updates and features coming. x-game chat soon i hope.

A good addition I guess. This stuff isnt for me. id rather have the cross chat like the 360 has. MS always 1 step ahead of sony all the time.

Well, I love the europeans as much as anyone else. Acutally there are very beautfiul girls in Spain, Italy and France, (but how about some love for the North American base) I want to watch TV on my ps3 too. Id love to stick it to comcast and just use my streaming ps3.

I like how everyone says it's just copying Xbox. You'd be hard pressed to find a site that doesn't use facebook integration. If you don't like facebook fine, but you're a fool if you think this won't be used be an unbelievably high number of people. No one has a gun to your head and it's going to happen, you don't have to use so please let it go. I don't use home but you don't see me complaining about it everyday.

Maybe ill finally get a facebook. Other than that doesn't sound like anything big. All of the updates usually just seem like a waste of time.

I bought my PS3 to play games. I'm still waiting for Sony to mention cross game voice chat with one of these updates. Even then, I'm sure it will take them 6 months or more to get it to work right. My PS3 begs to be smashed with a sledge hammer any time I try to do anything online with it.
