Rumor: Dead or Alive 5 heading to PS3

The chaps over at the Official PlayStation Magazine UK (via CVG) are claiming that Dead or Alive 5 is currently in development for Sony’s PlayStation 3 console.
The Tecmo fighter has remained an Xbox exclusive since the days of Dead or Alive 3, and hasn’t graced a Sony platform in around eight years with the Sony-published Dead or Alive 2.
While the prospect of a DoA game coming to Sony’s black box is positively titillating (like what we did there?), nothing has been confirmed out of Tecmo HQ as of yet, so there is still a chance it may not happen at all. Nonetheless, previous rumors have suggested a multiplatform release.

Let's hope the 360 doesn't get it a year before us, like with Ninja Gaiden 2

I've never been a fan of Virtua Fighter, I've pretty much given up on Tekken (after 5: DR), Soul Calibur (after 3), Street Fighter (after Capcom Vs SNK 2) and Mortal Kombat (after Shaolin Monks). So, it'll be nice to see a familiar face return to restore my faith in a genre I once called my favourite.

Having seen the last two on the other console I kinda hope when or if they bring it to the PS3 they bring in something very very new indeed, yeah sure we all like a bit of pointless breast bouncing in our games - but the DOA series hasn't really progressed imo that is. Maybe its time for games companies to really start doing xxx adult games, having the characters actually topless after ripping off their garments in a straight up perfect win, or breaking their arms so they cant use it in the next round and adding some FemDom action with full strapon action too........am I going to far with this?

cant belive some of you saying its not changed... why would you change it if it works?
FPS for example... its still in first person ... you still aim a gun and shoot people
beat em ups you still beat em up :s

@ wetfbbqchiken - no one said change it - just add different harder features or make it well adult.

aye i supposed, abit of innovation couldn't hurt aslong as the core stays the same
as for the adult thing, i dont see the big deal with doa people seem obbsessed with the girls having boobs lol yes you could set the bouncy-ness (not a word?) but its not like its a main feature of the game
although i do think they kinda added to the "only preverts play dead or alive" sterotype with the volleyball games

Tecmo should have stayed with the colsole that made DoA a hit . I think that I'm not the only PS3 owner that thinks this way.

WOW
just WOW
DOA2 is my favourite fighter game, the counter system was perfect and combos were not overpowered ; 3 and 4 didn't bring anything new and counter system wasn's good anymore
just hope it's true

I want it to get on the PS3 solely because Xbox owners keep coming with we still got DoA even though it's just a fighting game with a majority of girls with big breasts in it. I honestly wouldn't care but at least that kind of compensates for Tekken 6 which the Xbox got.
About DoA: I never really liked the game.
About Tekken: I loved Tekken up until 3, then 4 was nice on the PS2, Tekken 5 was great, Tekken Tag Tournament was the BEST Tekken game to date and Tekken 6 really added a small amount of features. I don't like the new story thing, I guess it's ok but it's gameplay isn't good. I think the 1 with Jin was better in that prospect. And on the console version they actually did the stupidest thing I've ever seen. They put a restriction cap for offline ghost battles :S. Max to get to is 1st Dan, how do you get higher in Tekken 6? ONLINE, if you're going to do that make a good server so the hit doesn't arrive like at least a second after you press a button :S
Back to DoA, I'll see, if DoA 5 is a huge improvement, unlike Tekken 6 was for 5, then I might consider getting it.

It would be smart to make it multi platform if Tecmo wants money becauses it going to sell more on 360 by default any way, but then again sense Itagaki left his fans stop supporting Tecmo as every has saw on Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma sell below 38,000. None of the million Itagaki fans brough it just the ps3 owns who hasn't play it yet brough it, now that I think about it it was never Tecmo fans to begin with it was the real Ninja Team/Itagaki fans I mean what Tecmo makes ??? And they brough the **** out of DOA4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 when they first came out, they sold over million in the first week lol.

@24
The DOA series appeals to people who know nothing about fighting games and want something easy to play which reuqires little skill. So in other words the main audience.
VF appeals to people who are good at fighting games and want something technical that requires skill to play.
I think of real fighting game fans as the hardcore audience, not the casual one.

Meh fighting games died in the States when arcades did. Even though a lot of them are good they hold no replay value beyond a month or two after launch. Not like the days of MK3 and Killer Instinct. It sure sucks how there are no arcades now, online gaming just doesn't cut it. Not to mention people can just screw around instead of fighting to make every cent of that quarter last.

No arcades in the US? I'm sure theres quite a few and the Tekken scene is pretty lively there.
It sucks bieng in the UK tho. Reall there is actually NO arcades, hard to find arcades that have tekken 6. And those are mainly in London costing a ton which i why i have to play T6 online -_-
Oh w8 going off-topic

@27 im gonna go ahead and assume you have never played dead or alive at all, at least not for long
personally i started on vf1 in arcades vf2 on sega whatever then vf3 on dreamcast then doa2 came out on dreamcast and blew any vf game out of the water, seriously
of course theres skill involved... how can you say there isn't? how is it less hardcore than any other fighting game? cmon!

Wonder if they'll have the option to choose the age of your character.
Age: 99
Bouncy boobies ftw! No seriously, this game is easy to learn and hard to master. Those that think this game is easysauce should try playing against someone who really knows how to play it. I'm looking forward to it on whatever console it comes out for.

@9 no, I like your vision of the future of this aged & predictable genre. Fighting games are barely one step up from mindless fps bangbangs for me, only worth the price of admission in the company of friends & alcohol... think I'd prefer to play your version of the game behind the privacy of a locked door :P Seriously though, I'm up for a real dirty fighting game.

@24 & 37..
DOA. takes more skill then any fighting game in the world!!!!!.. if you think not, i still have my copy of doa4 on 360 and i'll show you the difference, you wont be able to beat me one round, while in anyother game i can show you the difference in winning, DOA takes skill and is a game that made me buy a 360 and get into online gaming...Tekken 6 button mash, DOA use your brain.
