We hear rumors of video game movie deals all the time. Most turn out to be nothing more than small blips that disappear as quickly as they arrived. However, some do survive the speculation phase.
A recent auction for the screen rights pertaining to Heavy Rain is winding down. A deal with Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne, the minds behind both Seven and Unique Features film studio, is reported to be nearing finalization. Using their own money, the duo placed the top bid in an auction held by developer Quantic Dream.
While there is indeed potential, many are skeptical that the magic of Heavy Rain would be lost in translation. After all, the game focused on providing a personalized story complete with different outcomes for each person who played it - a feat yet impossible for filmmakers to achieve.
