EA takes out loan; Take-Two buy imminent?

With a recent SEC filing came the knowledge that EA has taken out a substantial loan in the amount of $1 billion dollars (cue Dr. Evil whenever ready). The loan was acquired from Morgan Stanley and lenders in order to make the buyout of Take-Two that much more possible. Of course, this is all speculation as everyone knows EA has deep enough pockets to have bought the company out without a loan. EA's VP of Communications, Jeff Brown, gave a couple of comments in regards to the loan and the reasoning behind it:
"There's no news here. This is just a process point on something we announced in February. It helps us maintain maximum flexibility for any opportunities."
Apparently this is news to gamers regardless of what Jeff Brown truly thinks about the situation as most of us have been hesitant and reluctant to give into the idea of EA buying Take-Two Interactive. We're sure an extra billion would give them more than enough flexibility to flex their muscle in order to gain majority control of the company. As more comes out about this drama, we'll keep you guys up to date.

Relax guys. Sony takes out loans al the time it's just that no one really bothers to notice unless it's like 3 times that much. EA is just fattening their pockets a bit so that their end of year report looks a little more impressive when they pay it all back from releaseing another years worth of retreaded EA sports games.

I blame Peter Moore. Also, they should give the rights to big games like GTA and Bioshock to someone that will not sell out, so just in case they are bought out, the franchises are safe!

I actually want EA to buy out take-two. Seriously, the last decent game I played from them was The Darkness. From EA just this year I have enjoyed The Orange Box, Command and Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath, Burnout Paradise, Army of Two. PLUs I get to look forward Battlefield Bad Company and Mirror's Edge and Dead Space. EA > 2k/take 2 for me. EA is in this to make money, and EA has finally learned that crap games -> pissed gamers -> no sales = no money. So I am optimistic about this whole merger deal. As long as Codemasters stays safe from acquisition (from anybody), all is well in my world.

If EA buys Insomniac, (which is highly unlikely), then the video game apocalypse is at hand.
