PSP homebrew support "in the works"

The homebrew scene is usually considered a bit of a danger zone, because it often takes some sort of hacking before the console in question will run such home-made software. Jack Tretton, however, has actually praised some of the work of the thriving PSP homebrew crowd.

When asked if Sony would consider adding official homebrew support to PSP, Tretton rather encouragingly said: "I think that is something that is in the works."

"We certainly see some of the stuff that has been done via homebrew, and it's incredibly creative. And I think we'd like to try and tap into that a little bit more."

that's good in some ways, but that does open up the psp to viruses, which would not be a good thing, I would still like to see some type of support for homebrew though so BRING IT ON!

hey don't worry Willisc89, If Sony gets involved the homebrew would become official with Sony and the risk of Viruses will be gone. I wonder what they are planing for the homebrew scene...

I think Sony knows that no matter how many updates they do, it will be hacked. In the end, it would be better to just go ahead and let them do what they want! I'm sure it would sale a lot more PSP's.

Hacking has nothing to do with the decision to create homebrew, You can make the system as open as you like and there'll still be hackers trying to play free games that they downloaded. No he's actually talking about creativity and games made by people who actually ARE making apps rather than the means to play free games.
