Sony looks to a "very exciting" 2009

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) boss David Reeves has declared that the platform holder’s primary short-term goal for 2009 is turning a profit, adding that he expects the next 12 months to be a “very exciting” time for the PlayStation brand.

Speaking in an article on PlayStation.com, Reeves commented: “The most important thing for us as a company in the very short term is for us to start making money.”

“This is a pledge that was made last March and is something that we are still very much on target to achieve.”
 
“Once we have achieved this, I think it will be a very exciting time for PlayStation. Once we have alleviated that specific pressure, we can move forward at a rate of knots,” he added.

Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios’ Shuhei Yoshida also chipped in, affirming his belief that 2009 will be a crucial period for major PS3 exclusives.

“Just to name a few, the year will start with the much anticipated launch of Killzone 2, followed by a fresh, new take on the superhero/anti-hero open sandbox genre inFamous, a mind-bending thriller Heavy Rain, a massive 256 player simultaneous online shooter MAG, an augmented reality, virtual pet in your room experience EyePet, and some more big titles that we have not even announced yet,” he offered.

    eyepet must be for the jordies out there, although it is missing the wey. Looking forwrd to even more great games, sony will soon regain top spot.

    Out of everything mentioned I'm looking forward to Killzone 2, everything else pales in comparison

     Yeah,that's what i'm talkin' 'bout,KZ2,Heavy Rain,inFamous,FFXIII,Tekken 6,Uncharted 2,probably a new Ratchet & Clank,not to mention psp exclusives like,Resistance Retribution,Dissidia,KH Birth By Sleep,Parasite Eve 3rd Birthday,and many more,good to be PS gamer fo'sure!

    lets really hope so but that's what they said last year coz uncharted was coming, METAL GEAR SOLID 4, resistance 2, little big planet...still sony is behind. I'm still for Sony though so i hope they can really pull of one magic trick from their hat this year.

    Go to IGN, they have a list of the coming games this year with the corresponding release dates. Not too sure with GT5 though, those car companies by the time they release the game might be closed already...haha

    psn id: gingo... 2008 was hailed as being the year of the playstation and while it did ok it was notihng special but i truly think 2009 is the playstations year and if not then there is something seriously wrong as the software lineup is incredible

    More titles that haven't even been announced yet??? Sony and devs are really on the ball releasing more PS3 games.

    It sounds like 2009 might be the year the PS3 catches the 360, or atleast comes close. 8 million units worlwide isnt hard to regain when you have system seller exclusives like Killzone 2, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, etc.

    MASSIVE ACTION GAME! lol that game sounds hilarious. But yeah i think 2009 might be better than 2008. 2008 had MGS4 and that a hard one to overpoer. But 2009 is gonna get almost or equeal to it. FF13 and versus, KZ2, GoW3 and maybe even Kingdom Hearts lol
