Ubisoft has debuted a new story-based trailer for the latest instalment in its popular Prince of Persia franchise.

Due for release this winter, the eponymous illustrative epic acts as a reboot for the franchise, introducing a completely new storyline, gameplay mechanics and graphic design. The game has you teaming up with a female counterpart named Elika, who facilitates the Prince's efforts as he explores huge environments and battles an assortment of goons.

Check out the new trailer below.

Prince of Persia will be available for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.

The game looks cool and I enjoyed the other 3 games of the series on the PS2, so hopefully the next 3 will be just as good.

And if it didn't change, people would moan, "been there , done that".

This looks very good through & through....and that was a fantastic trailer. I hope it does well, and I think it will.

sands of time are what defined PoP 1.2.&3 so this incarnation doesn't hold the same unique ability that we all loved.  Does Elika match the ability to slow down or even reverse time??  Probably not and despite Ubisofts insistence that she won't get in the way ... that's right Ubi, what about the story then, eh? She's all over it like a dose of the sailors 'tache.

Should have called this one Princess of Persia ... probably sell more units that way.

the graphics look good, the story looks good and..... the gameplay looks bad.

im all for more PoP games but they should have stopped at the last ones and not tried to re-invent it.

i will probably get the game if there is a demo to justify it.
theres too many good games out this winter so i cant see me considering this as one of the first picks.

    P.S.

cant help but notice that the trailer said "10,000" years have passed. dosn't that mean that its in the future ?
they mastered time travel but couldnt advance past swords ?

We'll have a full preview for you guys for Prince of Persia by tomorrow night. I had the chance to play about an hour and a half of the game in San Francisco on Thursday before the night "game is finished" party, lol.

Gameplay was surprisingly strong and fun to play. Keep a look out for it.

It does look good but the graphics are catoonised along the edges, so all the charcters have black outlines. Whether this will effect the game will be found out when a demo is released!
