Everyone saw the breathtaking Final Fantasy VII demo when the PlayStation 3 was first announced back at E3 2005. But Square Enix has remained stern on the position that they would not present the world with a remake for the PS3. This, however, did not stop millions of people asking for one whenever the opportunity presented itself.
This week, Famitsu sat down executive producer Yoshinori Kitase, producer Hideki Imaizumi, director Hajime Tabata, and character designer Tetsuya Nomura to discuss Crisis Core and future iterations from Square-Enix.
After stating how intense Crisis Core is, and how it fills up almost an entire UMD-rom, Nomura and Kitsae were questioned on upcoming games. Aside from Crisis Core, Famitsu editors asked about new developments in the Compilation series, before stating the obvious---fans want a FFVII remake.
Imaizumi said that the remake of FFVII is a question of timing, mentioning that Kitase, Nomura and Tabata are all busy with the Final Fantasy XIII series. He added that a new game of some form would be announced at the Tokyo Game Show. It's not certain if this new game is in the FFXIII series or a completely new title from Kitase, Nomura and Tabata--but PlayStation 3 owners should be very excited.
No--this isn't Kingdom Hearts III, which was already touted to be unveiled for the PlayStation 3 console at TGS.
Imaizumi confirmed again that there is currently no plans for a FFVII remake but noted that this decision could take place very quickly, and mentioned how the decision to make Crisis Core took only two days. So, have no fret PS3 owners!

they should come out with it, people would get it, it's like when George Lucas remastered the original Star Wars, it did great, I think the same thing would happen with Final Fantasy VII....

they will remake it for sure now after hearing this. They just need to get done with their projects and then they can have the time and resources to making it the best remake they can. One of things I am most looking forward to is Cloud in drag in HD lol. I gotta see how that comes out.
on another note I can't wait for CC. Though, I first need to get a PSP.

What gives FF7 the right for a remake any more than FF8? or Xenogears? It got advent children and a bunch of BS spin offs....leave it as that. Squall or Fei would kick Cloud's a** and you'll know it (and ID has no match....not even Sephiroth).

I think they should have been working on it. I say we donate them some money... That would boost the chances for us to get it.

When Enix merged with Square it was a move designed to keep Square from becoming a bankrupt development studio. From then on, a lot of the company's decisions are based off of making money and how much money they'll make.
Creating a FFVII re-make would sell so many units and so many PS3s that the company would litteraly be rolling in cash. Square will re-make FFVII, it's only a question of when.

I don't know guys... I'm sure they don't want to mess with a classic. For instance, if they keep the combat and 2D camera angles the same but update it to HD... ppl will criticize it for being a cheap remake, not a game that feels like it belongs on a next gen system.
But if they update it to HD, make changes to the combat, and transition the game to 3D... there will be some ppl that do not like what they did with the game.
I think it's tough to figure out how to do a remake of a game with such different hardware.

This is the game that weaned me into serious gaming. I became a Playstation fan the day I first laid hands on this title, and I would never, ever, hesitate at buying a remake for FF7. SE needs to bring this to the PS3. It will move systems to sell. It will move people to tears. It will move planets to...no, scratch that, but it will definitely do the first two.

Would a FFVII remake be all that difficult? I mean, all they have to do is "update" the graphics and add in voice acting. The voice actors from Advent Children could even do the voices for the remake. Let the people working on FFXIII continue their work; FFVII just needs a facelift.

Dave the Storm.. your wrong... FF8 was the best in the series. It had a better music score, better graphics, and a better storyline... i bet they will remake FF7,8, and 9 in the next few years i believe since they remade every FF game prior to 7... but why is 7 so poular? is it that Aeirth died or something??? i just dont get it... FF7 sucks besides the point that you can get chocobos and breed/race them...

FF8 was the worst of the series, unless you're a chick or a very emo guy... that game was a god damn love story
and what about the magic system? u 'draw' magic? wtf is that? makes u not want to use your good spells for fear of wasting them. and if u say u can always go get more... thats absolutely retarded - wheres the fun in farming items?
FF7 was easily the best in the series and deserves a remake. not a single game that ive ever played has ever gotten me into the story as much as FF7 has. even when replaying it for the 10th time, i still love every moment of it

FFVIII- Drawing was questionable but allocating your magic to your stats was cool.
FFVII- materia is awesome and i loved to level it up.
So they could bring materia back and allow you to junction it into yourself as well and they would have a sweet new system
and they should add to 7 more awesome games in the golden saucer and a new card game becasue i loved the card games >.<
