Ryse: Son of Rome - Xbox One exclusive gameplay

Even if it's a little heavy on QTEs, I thought it was cool to watch.

EDIT: Replaced with better quality video.

it felt like a Dday version of Romans on rails with constant QTE, im not surprised though considering it was apparently a kinect game at first, the control transition will prob be felt by the time it comes out. Imo it was the biggest dissapointment from the games i didnt know what to expect

It has potential but with all the QTE I think that will be what kills it, then they will prob fix it in sequel if it sells well.

No, mainly just boss battles. But either way, I think it works pretty well in Ryse.

The game looked gorgeous, but the instant QTE and bad animation flow kind of ruined it.

How else are you gonna simulate close combat? I like it because it brutal and up close violent which is true to those times. We'll see, but the creator said on spike that the combat isn't all qte.

They're not flowing well together, it's a bit twitchy. Only the QTE looked god.

    Yup ^^

Quick time overload! It's like every Single kill is a qte...how is that even similar to GoW?

ok not going to rain on anyone's parade here but do you guys really think this was best of the show? Because I was really excited to come home and watch the entire show...and see all the games including MGS5...but if this was best of the show then I'll just have to hold on to my excitement.

Not even close. For me, MGS 5, Titanfall, and Project Spark.

Not impressed by MGS5...the idea was awesome but goddamn man, I was expecting so much more...$#@! me for wanting real next-gen $#@!.

This is RDR with a MGS mix. I see nothing innovative here.

At this point I'm more impressed with Mirror's Edge 2...but only if any of that was in-game.

Well, MGSV is a current-gen game as well. The idea is awesome though, timing your infiltration based on time of day and weather, I love that kind of freedom.

Highly doubt that was in-game, the game is very early. The game will be gorgeous no doubt though, the first one still holds up.

Not just the graphics...just the overall feel...I don't like it at all. Very disappointed by Kojima. On the other hand...The Division...Oh Em Gee. Now THAT is a next-gen game.

Sorry for going off topic, couldn't find a topic where we can talk about all the games...go on.

A way they could have done this rather than using qte would have been to hold down a button after a series of combos to perform those finishing brutal kills rather than having x and b pop up every single kill

Dude, it was only a tiny bit of the game and QTE works for this type of close combat. Holding a button down would really be no different and that would take away from the realism.

Seeing command prompts isn't realistic. Assassin's Creed does it much better, while still looking realistic.

Really? so adding a prompt on top of heads adds to the realism rather than removing buttons on screens to keep players amassed?

    Lol gotcha...well then carry on

It's also not as up close, so there is a difference. The whole thing is about the brutality of the combat.

it doesn't take away from the brutality of the combat IMO. At the end of the day it's still a game that's played the traditional way.

AC has brutal combat and finishers, the camera can get up-close. It needs to actually be fun also, which so far doesn't look like it.

Sorry, but AC combat is not even close to this. This game focuses on the brutality of combat up close. AC combat is not as realistic and it's shown from a different view. AC creed has a better system but this is more right in your face close up stuff which makes it more realistic even though there is QTE.

The slo-mo and the camera work kind of diffuses it, can't feel the weight of the impacts. It didn't have anything as cringe-worthy as GoW or AC, but we'll see.

lol... I don't see how the camera work does that. It's slows down for the reason I stated above. From what I saw it's more brutal and realistic than GOW. It's like GOW but hack and slash up close. If the camera was zoomed out far then i can see why they would have a system like AC or GOW. Remember, this is only one part of the game.

And the rest could suck. So like Naxi said, we will see.
