Arrival: 6.5/10 Somewhat entertaining, long and drawn out aka a great movie to fall asleep to, the trailers made it seem like something it wasn't, I didn't care for the ending.

    Star Trek beyond. 5/10.

Really poor show compared to the previous movies.

    X men apocalypse 6/10

The gag that Sophie said "the 3rd is always the worst" very much rings true.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword - 2/10

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The story was laughable, the directing was terrible, the editing was a joke. The movie jumped all over the place without any coherency and it's very hard to give a crap about any of the characters with how it was put together. Just bad all around.

    Arrival - 10/10

Great story and cinematography. I especially like the different interpretations for language and time and how language ends up being such an important element in the movie.

    Independence Day: Resurgence - 8.5/10

It would have been a 9/10 if the new characters were interesting. Great action scenes and CGI though. It is probably my favorite alien invasion movie while Arrival is my favorite alien arrival movie.

    Spectre
    - 7/10

I agree with others that Skyfall and Casino Royale are better.

    Wonder Woman - 8/10

A lot better than I thought it'd be. The ending was a bit cheesy though. The villain could've been played by literally anyone else and it would've been more enjoyable.

    Daddy's Homes - 8/10

So much funnier than I had expected. I think Ferrell and Wahlberg were much better in this movie than The Other Guys.

    Goldeneye - 8/10

Great action scenes and a few funny moments. Sean Bean also plays a great Bond villain. It's probably my second favorite James Bond: 007 movie (Skyfall is at the top for me).

    Gravity - 10/10

I don't have any complaints. The writing is good and the visual effects hold up really well.

Transformers: Age of Extinction - 1/10

These movies just get worse and worse with every new installment. This one in particular doesn't even fall back on its visuals because of the unnecessary high contrast post processing and flimsy, half-assed camera work that ruin the work having gone into the CGI. It's also a great example of how detached the CGI will look from its environment, such as a robot being knocked onto a highway overpass and causing it no damage. And for a guy known so well for his explosions in movies, it's a shame Michael Bay relies so much on his boring firework-like explosions.

Damn. I figured this was a streaming pile. Just had that aroma to me. I loved the other guys. Mainly because of their cohesiveness as a comedy duo. Was shocked by how well they meshed. Might have to check it out.

    Terminator Genisys - 8/10

I enjoyed it. I've been a Terminator fan since having seen the first two movies when I was a kid and I found Terminator Genisys to be new and exciting. I really like the first half-hour for the future war scenes and the final battle at the end is also really entertaining. All of the characters are well-portrayed, in my opinion. I would rate it higher if it wasn't for the unnecessary post-credits scene and the ridiculous "two naked main characters survived getting hit by a car" moment. I also barely remember the soundtrack to this movie which is surprising for me to say about a Terminator movie.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
    - 10/10

This is a fantastic Star Wars movie. K-2SO is hilarious and probably my favorite character in the movie ("I'll be there for you... Cassian said I had to.") Also, the blue screen / environmental CGI special effects are really, really impressive. It is a wonderful movie to watch and you can't help but get immersed into its world which is exactly what a Star Wars movie should achieve, in my opinion. It is probably my second favorite Star Wars movie (the first being The Empire Strikes Back).

    10 Cloverfield Lane - 7/10

My full thoughts in a recent thread I made here.

As much as i liked Rouge one, it just didn't feel quite like a start wars movie because of the lack of focus on jedis and the force. That movie still feels out of place to me.

Baby Driver 9/10. Much better than the trailer suggested. Bit of a hidden gem compared to the big name films this year.

Kingsman was like that. Didn't translate well to trailers. Definitely didn't do it justice. Forced myself to watch it Ann's was shocked at how wrong my expectations were. I want to see it. Stupid name though. But i love Edgar Wright movies.

Well, Chirrut of the Guardians of the Whills believed in the Force and, despite being blind, displayed a heightened sense of awareness to his surroundings. But I liked that about the movie. And considering Rogue One is a prequel to A New Hope, it would make sense they wouldn't focus too much on the Force and Jedis, since it doesn't play a role until Luke and Obi-Wan are introduced later.

You have a valid point. Not like i don't like it, i really do. Just different watching a star wars that doesn't draw heavy from Jedi backstory

The Visit: 6.5/10 It had a few scary moments but wasn't what I thought it would be. A lot of M Night Shyamalan's movies are what I consider "mild scary" where the potential is there to do so much more but he doesn't. Signs let me down, Lady in the Water was horrible, Unbreakable was ridiculous, and the only ones I enjoyed were Sixth Sense, The Village, Devil, and Split.

Mama: 8/10 Had a pretty good story even if there were a few "wtf?" moments. It felt a little drawn out at times but overall the pacing and acting was really good. A lot of good scary moments even though one or two were "I saw that coming from a mile away". The ending was good but could've been better.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I think I'm just impressed with all of the different planets and locations they showed and how they looked.

Speaking of great special effects, have you guys seen previews for War for the Planet of the Apes? It's become very difficult to distinguish the realism of the apes from the humans.

Yes I'm looking forward to it. I loved the original 1968 film along with Escape and Conquest. Beneath and Battle were the worst from the original movies. The Tim Burton reboot from 2001 I thought was good too. Most recently, Dawn and Rise were both excellent movies so hopefully War will be just as good.

Good thriller, nothing new at its genre, scarry with good atmosphere and idea, but nothing more.
