AR
WAAR
Markerless AR

My mind pooped it's self seeing the racing track deformation with the multiple AR cards. I can just imagine a racing track going up walls.

6 of the AR cards will be bundled with Vita.

I look forward to seeing what Sony bring out for their next console. They already have a lot of experience and tech for interesting areas like AR and 3D and such. Vita somehow feels like a little glimpse into what they can do and what they will be doing both with hardware and software. Imagine if they made another visor like their upcoming 3D visor, but with a camera on it so you could see an augmented reality in gaming. It would be badass.

Looks suuupper cool, so many possibilities. I really, REALLY hope some good games come out of this.

Is that WipEout ship a feature in the game? That alone looks awesome, yeah its a novelty just to view the ship but the detail is mad

They are called AR Unlocks. My guess is you can unlock every ship for AR and set it up some place and take a picture.

You also have to imagine, unlike on PS3 or some other device the AR on the PS Vita and seen on the PSP is being done in real time on the fly and not from a fixed camera point.

Yeah thats like the 3DS's AR Games. They are pretty weak, but a good indication of what it can do, you place the card down and it transforms the surface into stuff and warps it etc. You can move around freely. I'd love to play an RTS like that

With the power of the Vita you could have an entire battle field stretched on your table.

Some of this stuff has been done on the PSP but it's a bit laggy at times. Plus like the 3Ds 6 AR cards will be in the box.

It would be a great tool for paper&pen RPGs.
As basic dungeon map and inventory for each character and a virtual camera you could move around to look around the scene.. :D

Yeppers. Both decidedly different, bringing amazing games to the table that the other doesn't have. Agreed.

thanks. Cut my teeth on NES (hell my parents had an atari 2600 and a ton of games and played that almost as much in my room on a 13 incher in about 86) so some of this stuff I don't envision how it'll be 'fun'
