Anybody Still Waiting?

Sadly enough, I'm still waiting for the very moment I'll be picking up my Wii system and have a go with the Wii motes myself.

Since the Wii has launched here in Europe, the Netherlands specifically, I haven't seen a Wii console in stores yet.

I have pre ordered but the stores got only a lonely few at launch, and there haven't been many systems since that time.

Every now and then I have a look at some stores and I'm greeted by the same sign saying: No Wii's available.

Anybody else still waiting?

I got my waiting out of the way early on, 4 hours in the cold in November. :) I think a lot of people are still waiting, it's pretty hard to find Wiis still.
Lots of people will be waiting for some months to come.
I have the same feeling. I'd stand in line if I had the time but the stores who didn't take pre orders only had a few.

Meaning like hundreds of people came looking for the wii system which stores averagely only had about ten pieces.

Most stores are handling their pre orders first, which means about 50 people whom are still waiting.

Well I'm broke as a joke, I don't have a PS3 now either, living in Cali and all.
EDIT: It says it in his location.
where on earth do u live?
His location says: England, Surrey.

I wish it was the same around here, but it's probably gonna be months for that to happen here.

And the longer it takes before stocks are replanished to more people seem to catch on to the Wii fever.

Luckely I did pre order one, so it's not going to take forever. I'm probably in the third or fourth shipments now.
i thought the wii comes out in march in europe?

anyways the place where i work we had like 40 wiis come in once
lol. I think you got confused with the PS3, which will be out somewhere in march here in Europe.

The Wii has been available since december 2006, a week or so after the wii was launched in Japan.

I wish we'd get about 40 Wii's at ones, but where a small country and Europe did not get that many systems I recall.
Weird... it's not that hard in Canada to get a Wii at all...
I would have to disagree, here in London Ontario, I was at 2 Walmarts and a Futureshop over the weekend, and they didn't even have any wiimotes let alone the systems themselves.

I guess it just really depends on the market in your area, and how many people in your area want one.

I'm calling BS on this one. I think you're mistaking Wii promotional boxes for consoles.

I know personally of at least 2 people who have mistaken the empty boxes for actual systems on the shelves.

The real Wii boxes in North America and Europe have the Wii Sports logo on the upper right hand corner. I have seen a few pics online claiming nobody is buying them but they are promotional boxes.

Yep, I've seen those promotional Wii boxes and mistaken them for the real deal.

Okay, Since I still haven't heard anything regarding my Wii system, I have decided to cancel my purchase for now.

I'm planning on using the money I had saved up to buy FFXII and Okami.

So I'm going to be more than busy playing those games, until I have some more money saved up for the Wii.

It seems next generation is still far away. O' well, can't blame me for not trying.

This is getting silly now, I got an email saying the Wii was in stock at Amazon.co.uk, by the time I told my friend who is looking for one, they were all sold out.

I believe there were 100 in stock originally, when I checked there were 23, and when I refreshed the page there were none! :-(

lol. That's what I'd call fast selling. I wonder how long these shortages are going to take. It has been 2 - 3 months now.

Not too long I hope. At the moment, although the Wii is at an 'impulse buy' price, it is not an impulse buy, because you can't bloody find one!

Although Nintendo can be satisfied with Wii sales, they cannot be satified that they cannot keep up with demand. Pester power from kids is a great way of selling consoles and the Wii doesn't have that until they are on the shelves.

The problem now is that we are starting tot see the X360 drop in price (in the UK anyway) so the parents can buy one of those for the same price to placate little Johnny.

I was able to find one yesterday afternoon at a local Target (northern california). This was after about 2 weeks (on and off) of tracking the Target stock online. Although, it does appear that if you're willing to wait in line a few hours prior to store opening, you could get yourself a Wii in this locale anyway (My brother-in-law got his this way and asked if I wanted to join him at the time).

Interestingly enough, I can't seem to find an extra wiimote and nunchuk. I'll continue monitoring the Target stock online and cross my fingers at the same time!

Just a bit of information for Uk people, and possibly everyone else... I work at Comet and basically we have not had any Wii's in since launch. But we were due to get 400 into our central warehouse on the 22nd Feb, I am told that they didn't arrive, but what I think is more likely is that Nintendo have decided to hold them back for the PS3 launch next month. Could be wrong though.

I didn't squeal like a little girl when I got mine, but I did sigh in relief when the clerk opened the EBgames at 6:50am on Dec 9 to say he had 4 in stock (I was 3rd in line).

I still find it a little strange that even one of the bigger retail chains in the uk can't get hold of them. How are nintendo selling so many?
