Enjoy the new screenshots from the official facebook page. Features black phantoms, co-op phantoms, blue phantoms (?), disguises and hiding places. Enjoy ^_^

Hiding from the Black Phantom fail , LOL

Guess where the player is? answer:
Disguised as a barrel

Is barrel the new cardboard box?

Death replays are back:

Forest Environment and a teaser of the games scale, try not to fall off:

Talking about not falling off...

Black Phantom arrives, pvp time:

A blue Phantom? (co op phantoms glow white, so this is a new form). It could be an enemy and not a player, who knows:

Black phantom is about to teach his target the importance of keeping your guard up:

Firestorm makes a return :D :

Co-op phantom about to assassinate the black phantom:

Make sure not to press the attack button by mistake:

Co-op, covering both sides and making their last stand:

YMCA:

Epic boss battle (?) with co-op player helping:

So, who else is hyped for this XD

There are more screenshots available on the dark souls facebook, these were the "july screenshots" so expect one next month too :D

I'm not sure if I can become anymore hyped for this game. It's not often something of this quality flies in on us gamers. Also, that last screenshot is awesome!

I really need to do some research on this game and figure out what it's all about. It seems a lot of people here are hyped up for this game, and the screenshots look really nice.

*goes to research*

You should watch a playthrough of demons souls (the first game) for a good idea of what to expect. Then imagine all of that in an open world environment. :)

It's a hardcore RPG that not only tests players on a level and armor scale, but also skill. It's also free-roam and coop, and other players can invade your world and stuff.

Ah, yes. I remember something on E3 about this game. Apparently it's one of the more difficult games out there that will have you trying time and time again. I don't know how much skill I have... but still something I'm going to pick up.

(I have too many games I need to pick up!)

It's one of those games where everyone will be the same at the start. the starting level is one of the toughest levels in the game since you can't level up so theres no grinding possible for that intro level, it helps build the skill required to play the rest of the game and get lose in the awesomeness that follows :p

After playing it I wouldn't say it was difficult. Theres games out there that I find alot tougher, Demons Souls is only difficult when you don't "get" or understand the combat. If you do get it or if you get this one always keep in mind that the endurance/ stamina bar is the most important thing. :)

Well whatever the case, this thread has managed to hype me up about this game. :) It releases October 4th in the US, I believe? That month is really going to leave a dent in my wallet.

awesome :D and just in case you were confused at what a black phantom was:

Players can invade someone elses game (randomly picked) and then assassinate the host player. Doing so in Demons Souls would restore your health in basic terms (as if you died you lost your body and your max health was capped. yes, this game punishes you each time you get killed, lol. No idea what rewards it will bring in this game.
When does this game come out and is it on the PC also?
it's for ps3 and 360 only unfortunately :(

It is so hard not to look at those screenshots as I quickly scroll down to comment. I am just here to warn you guys about seeing too much of the game before release. I knew almost nothing of Demon's Souls before I imported it and upon playing was immersed in a world unlike any other in a way that can only be described as utterly. I and the other players I encountered were going through an incredibly forboding landscape full of deadly enemies and secrets and unexpected allies and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had gaming. By not looking at further media you are assuring yourself that same sense of wonder upon journeying into this harsh environment. That innocence or 'original mind' cannot be regained hard as you may try. Good luck and I hope you all make the right choice.

Oh, and if you think DS is not tough if you "get" the combat, tell that to Maneater as you try to solo him or a really good Old Monk. Yeesh!

DS's difficulty is mostly due to player ignorance, arrogance, and lack of skill. You can technically beat DS at level one if you're skilled enough.

maneater wasn't that bad, the biggest foe i found in the game was my own stupidity half of the time at least lol. but best game this generation hands down for me. Demon's souls. i spit in the direction of everyone who did not buy it

The first 3 screenshots are worth looking at for the humour. I wouldnt class them as spoilers for the game (The 2nd and 3rd screenshots show off a skill that you should already know about if you were reading interviews and previews so if you dont know atleast have a look at the 1st screen for the lols XD). The rest have a heavier focus on environment and enemies so dont look at those if you want to know very little before the game is out.

I wanted to do the same thing but then I realised that I saw alot of the first game before getting it. At the time I couldnt decide between importing Blaz Blue or importing demons souls so watched a load of youtube vids and some of the bosses. I remember Flame lurker being one of the bosses I saw and my jaw being on the floor XD
Oh, and if you think DS is not tough if you "get" the combat, tell that to Maneater as you try to solo him or a really good Old Monk. Yeesh!
Oh, its still tough, like I said even if you "get" the game, you'll still die alot. But as you know already, dieing in the game is the players fault :)

I agree with this, whilst demonstrating the game to my friends at uni we spent the next half day playing it and beat the flamelurker and dragon god at starting level (flame lurker being the achievement, not dragon god as it wasnt much of fight) it was amazing XD
i'm guessing the blue dude is either an escort, or a helpful phantom
It doesnt look like an escort or helper from that angle :p
demons souls had 3 phantoms: white, black and red (red phantom was the pvp request) so maybe the blue one is similar to this?

DS seemed like a great game, but I do not have the patience or time to get into it.The lack of check points turned me off.I know it's part of the concept and challenge, but the game is not for everyone just to let people who never played it know.I like watching others play it on youtube video though.

I seriously cannot wait for this game. I played quite a bit of Demon Souls but I never really got too far into it. (I think I beat about 6 or so bosses?) I tried going online to see if I could rally a party to help me take down some of the harder bosses but it wouldn't let me because I bought the Chinese edition of the game which means I have to be 21 to play online, even though I live in Australia. :(
