I completed the campaign on veteran the other day. For me, it was more a game of patience and perseverance than actual tactics.

As for the timed submarine, that was one of the hardest parts for me. I eventually did it through a lot trial and error, I will list what I can remember regarding how I eventually did it:

- 1st predator missile, take out the helicopter on the landing pad. That way you can hide behind cover to heal without having to worry about being hit from above.
-Try and save your predator missiles for the troop transports and other enemy vehicles, but at the same time take out as many foot troops as possible in the explosions. Also, dont waste time and missiles trying to shoot enemies that are not directly on or blocking your path to the sub.
- Push forward as quickly as possible while making sure you are thorough in removing all enemies on your path to the sub. There was nothing more annoying that making good time only to be shot in the back by someone you missed.
- Although they get in the way, try and stick with your team mates as much as possible, they are not completely useless in veteran and can help in drawing fire away from you.
- Sprint to the end when you are near enough. I made it with about two seconds to spare and died a split second after reaching the check point.
- A little luck!

As I said above, trial and error. What worked for me may not suit your play style so just keep at it and good luck =D

Completed it yesterday, did half of the campaign yesterday  as the post above suggests be patient and you will be rewarded. For the contingency mission you just use your predator missiles as often as you can try and clear the area in front of you and advance forward thats what i did anyway.

As previously said, take your time with the submarine part of contingency. Even though there is a timer, you will be fine. Use the predator missiles as much as possible and be sure to breach and clear if you going for that piece of intel in building number 33.

I really didn't think that part of the mission was that hard the most annoying part from me was when me and price slid down the hill and met up with everyone else and you had to stay behind the snowed in buildings. The enemies kept getting killing me from behind.I cant remember if its before or after the contingency mission but its the safe house mission when you have to capture the data and wait for it to download but thats not the hard part,Its when you try and make your escape down that huge hill best advice I can give for it is keep to your left so you can get the checkpoint. Then you just have to get lucky and make it to the bottom.I must of tried this 100 times before I got it be prepared for alot of rage with this mission because it is all pure luck basically.Im on the mission now when makarov and shepperds troops are fighting and your stuck in the middle I'll probably have the game finished tonight.

i had a fair bit of trouble with this also, i first used the predator missile on the helicopter, use it as late as you possibly can to give ya self a bit of extra time. then i stuck to the left (avoiding the first building on the left) going just past the stairs and taking refuge behind the wall for another predator strike which i done pretty much right on top of my position. i then just kept my back to the wall all the way to the observation deck or what ever it is where you need to protect.

good luck

took me a bit of time but you just really have to...be quick!

pred inbetween the rover and the chopper then m21 the creeps at the front quickly then mince everyone with the RPD thereafter...just keep running.

Just completed on veteran last night now spec ops is all thats left.
I still think that COD4 an WAW were way harder on veteran
I still think the hardest mission was the one when your escaping from maksrovs safe house and running down that hill to the helicopter.

My thoughts exactly, especially when I got a really bad checkpoint spot right in the middle of getting popped by snipers.

Just completed it yesterday.I have a tip that got me through Loose Ends Conteigency:

Restart the level. If you can't do it where you are, restart. Especially on loose ends during the DSM thing, I restarted and barely had anyone coming.

As many people have said you need to get that chopper with your first predator strike. Then quickly clear the guys near where you come into the base.

Then you can either run through the building to the left or head straight across to towards the sub. I think I went through the building. Get another predator in somewhere after here and push forward again to around the corner. Your guys should be pushing ahead as well. Toss some nades to flash or frag and make a run for the checkpoint. You get it past the truck and wall and well before the sub. After that the building you defend from is to the left.

It's the only real mission that causes a problem. Perseverance is the key, but it's still way easier than anything from 4.
