child account verification

Hi, new here...I recently jumped through all the hoops and set up 2 step verification for my account. Now, it is asking for 2 step verification for all accounts, including the child accounts under family management. I can't see that there is any way to do this for a child's account. Once I did it, why isn't it done for all accounts I am managing? Any ideas how to get past this? I did reset the child's password, but since I have the 2 step set up it won"t let him use it. thanks so much.
