This new trailer, designed to show off the hugely impressive graphics that CryEngine 3 is capable of, hints at the sort of visuals we can expect from next generation consoles like the PlayStation 4.
It’s quite amazing, the lighting especially good and the ending, with the helicopter, is stunning. All this is real time, apparently, and taken from Crysis 3.
If the PS4 can get anywhere near this, we’ll be more than happy.

We have an entire thread dedicated to CryEngine 3 in the PC section, if you guys are interested. Not saying that anything will happen to this thread but it's worth checking out some of the other videos.

Realistic frogs. Now I'm impressed.

But if next gen gaming will have those features as the norm then bring on the next hardware already!. I can't imagine what games will look like five years down the line.

So who's hinting that this is what the PS4 is capable of. I mean of course thos guys would have alpha kits not but no one credible has said anything concrete.

(read: gime my PS4 already!!!)

Nope. I refuse to believe anything will show off the PS4s potential until Sony remakes the Killzone 2 trailer with it.
Looks good but in no way related to what PS4 might be capable of.
Personally, I think it should be capable of this.

It is the baseline what is expected of the next generation..

If every console is going to cost at least $700 yes.

My thoughts exactly. CE offers the verry best visuals and if future consoles are to be capable of running it at acceptable rates, they're gonna cost a lot.

We're much more likely to see the equivalent of a Radeon 6870 at best, but much more likely a 5770, if they plan to keep the price within reason. Because you know that next gen Cell is going to be outrageously expensive.

Performance wise I think a 6870 with a healthy supply of RAM would be pretty good. Though I would hope they could actually get something from the 7000 range with the huge power efficiencies the most recent range offers.

The leaked specs say ps4 has a gpu comparable to HD7850 and ANOTHER gpu inside the APU
No no no.... that's not good enough, I want CG like visuals for the PS4 or I wont buy it ! :D
That tessellated toad is beyond CG. Those tesselated leaves are my wish come true. That advanced pixel mapping on the tree is amazing.

To be fair, its a tech demo from a current gen game showing what can be done with the engine on really highend PC and obviously Nextgen consoles

Obviously nextgen visuals will be way better then that, but more simplified if ya get me, more practical, devs aren't gonna bother with a frog

Again, if that's the case, the cost of PS4 will be astronomical.

The ps3 cost sony around $830 per unit, Even when they were selling at $600 they were taking a huge loss. Both ps360 came with high end GPUs for there time so its entirely possible, although unlikely
There is absolutely no chance of that happening. I'd say a 6870/560 Ti at best.
560ti is already at 7850 price range :)
And the console will launch late 2013 to early 2014 so why would they not have latest gpus?

The RSX was a piece of crap even at launch, using old pipeline technology and low end cheap memory interface.

I think Sony has learned from PS3 hardware though and will place more emphasis on the GPU this time and use a more cost effective cpu.

I would expect next gen to do this sort of graphics at the least.
No...the 560Ti costs $300 and the 7850 costs $450

Because then it will cost too much.
(potentially going off topic :p ) $450 for a 7850? Im in Australia where we get seriously gouged for hardware prices and a 7850 is going for around $250. Seeing as a percentage of that price is more than just the chip it self (packaging, shipping and pc specific requirements) Could potentially see a 7850, or something close to it, in a console environment.

Oh right. Sorry about that; I seem to be misinformed. My bad.
