Very much like Rallisport, not as dry as the previous McCrae titles - a bit more energy perhaps?
It felt very much like a RalliSport sequel to me. Colin McRae used to feel and handle like you had a parachute deployed from the rear of the car, this one while it's definitely not all that realistic is so much fun to play!!
I was thinking of giving this a miss with Forza and the Darkness next month but if anything gets a miss, it'll be Forza I skip for DiRT, I loved the demo. My mate played it and said "meh it's an up-res'd Colin McRae game" so I was disappointed. Then I just gave it a go myself and I couldn't believe how good it was. Vehicle models are incredible, everything is nice and smooth, best use of HDR in a racer yet, excellent Camera modes, not to sim not to arcade mechanics, tracking of current race data over all modes; I dunno this game just really grabbed me and I've not once played a McRae game I've enjoyed. The only downside I would give it is that the track you raced the buggy's on is pretty much just a paddock, not alot of interesting scenery there and the car sounds could be abit meatier but overall this game is the game I am currently most looking forward to for the near future.
