FBI raids Trump’s Mar-a-Lago
The FBI executed a search warrant on former President Trump’s home in Florida on Monday, the ex-president said, lashing out at law enforcement for what he called “political persecution.”

The extraordinary move to search the home of a former president raises the stakes for the Justice Department and comes as Trump's legal problems continue on multiple fronts. Trump is also expected in the coming months to announce he will launch another bid for the White House in 2024.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday said the FBI sweep of former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate shows that no one in the United States is above the law — not even a former president. "We believe in the rule of law. That's what our country is about," Pelosi said in an interview with NBC's "Today" show. "And no person is above the law. Not even the president of the United States. Not even a former president of the United States."

Republicans speak out against FBI raid of Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate
A growing number of Republicans are erupting over news of an FBI raid of former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, accusing federal agents of unfairly targeting the ex-president for political purposes, with some suggesting that the law enforcement agency be “defunded.” Many Republicans also echoed sentiments from Trump’s Monday statement in which he said his home had been raided by the FBI and that agents had opened a safe belonging to him.
