It's my favorite next to IX. Mother fucking ace if you ask me. Loved the card game, loved the draw system, the join system, guardian forces, the whole high school vibe...damn bro, those were the days...

Agree with almost everything, just the draw system could get a bit monotonous in my opinion but yeah what a game!

I felt Squall was a very relatable character, I liked the dark and sometimes gothic theme, and I liked the battle music.

I didn't like the monotonous draw system, the enemies leveling up as you do (which makes leveling up a bad thing), and the directionless story.

Overall, I didn't really enjoy myself when playing FFVIII.

You know I never knew, until yesterday when i was watching a let's play Final Fantasy VIII, that the enemies levelled as you do! Ha

I enjoyed the story though, got a little soppy and weak from disk 3 onwards but the first two disks i thought the story, and in particular Squall was interesting and fresh

I just felt the story was too ad-hoc for the most part. It mostly consisted of a short-term goal after short-term goal, while any semblance of an overall direction was convoluted.

As much as i loved VII (and IX, hell! and X, and even XII) VIII was my most played.

I completed it many many many many maaaaaanny times. and not half arsed completions, im talking all in completions. I just loved everything about it.
Funnily the very first time i played it, i got to almost the end before i actually fully understood the junctioning system. It's not hard to understand, i was just being dumb lol.
Best card game in any FF imo, great soundtrack, gripping fights, classic comedy, lovable characters, hate-able villains.

So yea.. i would say 8 is my personal fave.
pretty much everyone i know, would whole heartedly disagree with me but that's that.

Edit: oh and i loooooooved the leveling of summons, and that power boost (spam X (or whatever button)) haha, good times indeed!
