Been having this discussion with some friends and it's interesting.

What's the strongest first team from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and United this season?

At first it seems an easy question, but the more you think about it the harder it seems. Vidic and Terry are the same type of CB, would they play well together? Who's best to lead the line, Torres or Drogba? You also have to account for the strongest formation, classic 4-4-2, Arsenal's 4-3-3 or Chelsea's new Diamond etc.

Here's a first crack at it:

Formation: 4-3-3

--------------van Der Sar---------------
--Sagna-----Terry-----Vidic-----Cashley
-----------------Essien-----------------
--------Fabregas-------Gerrard----------
----Rooney------Torres------Arshavin---

So thats 3 from Arsenal, 3 from Chelsea, 3 from United & 2 from Liverpool. You may call it bias but that's how I see it

THIS

plus the only reason VDS kept more clean sheets the Pepe last season was
down to the Rio + Vidic partneship

I dunno, I think Reina will be better this season, but judging from what I've seen so far VDS takes it. Both better than Cech IMO and Given is the best in the league. Oh and did you see Rio today? Absolutely awful. He's been in decline since last year

Hmm, perhaps.

Would you both play 4-3-3?

mmm dunno ima stickler for the 4-4-2 but on Pro Evo i play a diamond shaped 4-4-2
that ends up being a 4-3-3 as i push up a AM/CM 2 clicks into a sort of second strikers position.

I think the diamond can be good, e.g. Chelsea, and bad, e.g. England under Sven.

It depends, but it generally makes teams too one dimensional IMO, with too much in the centre and too little on the wings.

If all players were playing at their best it would be Cech in net, but based on last season definitely not. There's no denying how good Cech is when he's on form though.

-------------Cech-----------------------
Sagna----- Rio -----Vidic-------Evra
Gerrard----Fabregas----Essien---Arshavin
-----------Rooney----Drogba-----------

Gerrard on right purely because there isnt really a strong RM between the 4 of them lol (no Ronaldo :() and I didn't wanna play 4-3-3 like rest of you lol..

Hardest choice was Drogba or Torres, Drogba to be different lol

What about la liga 11 guys?

Ok let's see . . .

------------- Reina ------------

Johnson -- Terry -- Vidic -- Evra

-------- Essien -----------------

----------------- Fabregas -----

-------- Gerrard ----------------

----- Rooney ------- Arshavin --

------------ Torres ------------

But damn it is hard.

Quality wise, i think i have chose the best players but maybe not for some positions.

IMO . . .

Sagna is a better defender than Johnson, but Johnson is better at attacking. Whereas Evra is better at attack and defence than Ashley Cole.

I would emphasize the golden rule of Brazilian football which is score more goals than the opponent, flat out attack and never worry about defending.

Also, thank god we didn't have to name a bench of players as well. It's hard enough sorting the team out, never mind choosing players to cover for all eventualities and positions.

La Liga 11? Im a big fan of that league so ill go first YourMumsFace :)

--------------Casillas--------------
Ramos----Pique-----Albiol--Marcelo/Capdevilla
-----------Lass Diarra/Toure-----------------
------Xavi-------------------Iniesta--------
Messi-------------------------------Ronaldo
---------------Villa/Forlan-------------------

Hard to leave out players like Silva, Mata, Benzema, Kaka, Ibra, Henry, Fabiano etc etc but La Liga is just filled with so much attacking talent this year its hard to leave some out.
No love for Owen Hargreaves? (I'm an Arsenal fan but still a Canadian like Hargreaves) :p
He's good but Essein is better, as is Mascherano. So he's third choice DM for me

I was thinking about this too, I'd like to see what's stronger out of lineups from all the leagues top teams. I don't know enough about all the Spannish teams to pick a defence but a good GK & midfield/attack would be:

----------Casillas----------

-----Alonso-----Iniesta-----
--Messi--------------Kaka--
--------------Silva---------
------Ronaldo--------------

Wow that's so hard. I know Ronaldo isn't a real striker but we all know he can play there.

Could probably name a second string that's going to be just as good.

Because of the lack of width i'd simply change Sagna for Johnson and Evra for Cole but apart from that you've got the team!

Johnson-------Rio----------Vidic-------Bosingwa
-------------------Essien--------------------
---------Fabregas---------Gerrard------------
---Rooney---------------------Arshavin---
-----------------Torres----------------------

Arshavin has to be in there for me xD.
Rooney and Arshavin drifting out wide if needed.

Just noticed my choice of two adventurous, if not defensively sound full backs could leave the team a bit exposed on the counter but sh :p
