well its becoming a bit of a joke really AND yes i'm a huge F1 fan!

My team, well racer, is Fernando Alonso. While he's the best pound-for-pound racer in the world its so hard to tell who's going to win this season. From early season practise you would think its going to swing in favour of Ferrari/BrawnGP/BMW/Renault but i refuse to believe Maclaren won't pull it round.

The new rules allow for far too much confusion amongst teams and fans so i can imagine a surprise package winning. Ultimately i want Alonso to win but i wouldn't be surprised to see Ferrari winning again afterall, FIA are Ferrari fans so they won't have drawn up rules that don't help out Ferrari ahead of anyone else!

Tip for final 3 would be Kubica pushing all the way.

Alonso, as much as it pains to say it as i hate the racist sob, is probably the best OVERALL driver. However Im a BIG lewis fan and lewis is more of a risk taker and would win most races if he was in a ferrai. No other driver has is balls or schaumaer -esques skills!
but having said that, mcclaren are looking poor atm, but the season hasnt started yet, so im again tipping lewis, if hekki can acutally be a proper no2 driver for once and if the F1 dont try and hamper lewis (yes f1 are racist bigots and love ferrari) at every opportunity and if mcclaren sort their car out.

You git gilly, I was going to start this thread :p
i think Lewis Hamilton will do it again
He's gonna have a tough start to the season, the McLarens are nowhere at the minute. They have an aero imbalance, they're working on it but it's not gonna be fixed for the first race.

Brawn F1 are looking good, they've been consistently fast through the test sessions. Even ferrari said they're worried lol.

Be interesting to see if all the new rule changes will help with overtaking though, should be a good season with everyone having to start fresh. Hopefully it will be a nice open season.

As for the title contender, too early to tell for me but I'd like to see a brit win it again.

not likely John my friend, as the rules state that no more development is allowed, only tinkering with the race setup from now on - rubbish huh!

Still don't worry about Maclaren as pre-season testing is so unreliable it hurts! Plus how is Alonso racist, i know most Spanish people are but not Alonso isn't!

They're allowed to develop the cars with new parts, they've put a ban on testing not development.

With preseason testing over with, it's really hard to tell. BrawnGP looks really good, but Honda has struggled for the past two years and it's kind of hard to tell what they'll do come race time.

Same thing with McLaren. They struggled all testing, but can they pull it together when the lights turn green?

I'm not a fan of how the cars look, but if it improves the racing on-track, I'll learn to appreciate the new formula. Either way, after watching Sebring this weekend, my racing pants are going crazy. I can't wait for Australia.

I doubt mclaren will be at the sharp end in australia, give them a few races though. They just need a little time to sort the aero package out.

I'm also not a fan of the new look, they look sooo wrong. I do like the idea behind KERS though. I also like that the drivers are allowed to adjust the front wing twice a lap during the race as well.

I really hope they don't go with it next year either, its the worst system ever.

you could start your own thread, see how long it lasts

i agree with you there, McLaren will take a few rounds to get into the season (purely my belief). mostly cause Hamilton tends to throw his car about a little more than the other drivers.

Hmmmm, simpleton members thread v SMCs thread. I'd give it 5 minutes

Its not hamiltons style thats going to keep them back, McLaren have come out and said that there car is just not right. They're working round the clock to get the aerodynamics sorted, its that that is making them slow.

I happen to quite like hamiltons style, as you said he's not afraid to throw it around a bit and he's awesome on the breaks.

i think adjustable elements like boost from KERS, front wing adjustments and everything is going to help reward the deserving as only the best brains in F1 should win.

:p

ah ok, well at least they know theres something wrong, half way to identifying the problem.

i like it too unless it affects others ie Fuji last year, both he and Massa were excessively aggresive.

awesome m8 but i was thinking that everyone who joined would contrabute SP and REP to the Pot it would gain a lot more interest to ppl..but anyway i was thinking of doing a pool were everyone would pick 10 drivers but only one out of each team.and then have a points system
say 10 points for 1st and 1 point for 10th

Are you kidding me, your talking about the Big nose Pole no?! Come on, he only scored when Lewis or Massa messed up!
A decent driver, but NOT a world beater

Should be interesting on sunday, the field is going to be rally mixed up, I'm surprised how well Brawn Gp have done although I'm a bit concerned for Mclaren.

Not too sure about all these new rules, glad the medal one got scrapped have to see how they affect everything after the first race. The fact that there hasn't been much overtaking in recent years is because there hasn't been many good enough drivers. There was a bit more last season, Hamilton, Kubica and a few others proved it can be done. But instead of realising this they've just made it easier, the KERS system is ridiculous.
