EDIT:

Yeah it did the charm, you can tell its a quick fix though, I now have a black screen for 15 seconds before any loading image art work comes up. apart from that no changes to the game.

This better fix the lock up freezing issue off line. I tried not to get my hopes up.

Anyone with a freezing PS3 that tries this, post if it fixes you or not.

connection to one or more players is lost!! why they feck does that keep happening to me! It was fine before the damn patch!

where to download and how to patch from ps3? hafta go into psn store or something? or it'll auto download when gta4 cd is inserted?

The game still won't run. I downloaded and it froze on the opening cut scene just as usual. 18MB for multiplayer to fix but not the game in general. Man this is disappointing to say the least.

Looks like I will just continue to load GTA while signed out of PSN, then log in to get into multiplayer, this has been working for me since Monday.

Is this freezing issue supposed to be random? I have never expierence it and I am about 20% done with the game!

Wierd.

I have had a couple problems with MP but most games nowadays do so I havnt played it much!

What if we dont have any problems playing GTA IV? I have experienced zero freezing and no problems with any multiplayer games and I have been playing the game everyday since launch.

Is this install mandatory? I do not want to be forced to download this patch and then have the game screw up on me when there is nothing wrong with mine to begin with.

It's mandatory. When you load the game, it'll say you have to download the update first. There was really nothing wrong with my game before the patch. Froze twice, but signing out of PSN fixed that. Now with the patch, everything is as it should be.

I can't even get passed the phones waiting to connect screen, I'm still getting "unable to connect please try later" WTF !!!!!
Any suggestion PLEASE !!!!
