I am going to Uni in 4 weeks and they have a deal on a laptop, which is;

T61 Model Thinkpad:

3gb memory
80GB hardisk
Intel Core Duo T7250
14.1"WXGA Screen
Intel GMA X3100 GM965 (Graphics)
1GB ethernet internet card

with

Vista buisness
Office 2007
McAfee Secutiy Suite

For £589

So is that worth it? Or is their better value for money out their?

I don't really see it as a great deal at all - that's pretty much par for price-to-worth on notebooks.

If you want a deal, http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Xplorer_X5-5850_Notebook/

-15.4" screen
-GO 8600M-GT 512 MB (Direct X 10 compatible)
-Core 2 Duo T8300 @ 2.4 GHz
-4GB Corsair RAM
-120GB (7200rpm) HDD
-built-in 1.3MP webcam
-vista home premium 64bit (there's nothing special about Business except a feature you'll never use)

The one you're looking at would cost $1094. The one above would cost $1115 (600GBP). You can rip Office 2007 and Mcaffee from the internet easy. They are not worth what you pay for them.

Cyberpower doesn't ship to the UK, I'm just showing you what a much better deal you could get when ordering from a generic distro. You might want to look for a similar site UK-based.
