I do not think GOW3 is my type of game after playing the very first segment

Is it like this the whole way through? just a lot of bashing and mashing of buttons? I can see the appeal to some people i just don't particularly enjoy the art style or anything. Is it worth sticking it out?

If you do not like it, then do not play it. However, if you bought the game, then I would at least try and play a little further in. Also, up the difficulty if you don't want to just mash buttons.

Yeah, it looks great, but the puzzles are what annoy me in the game.

The button mashing ain't so bad if you put it on hard lol.

but those freaking puzzles..annoying and time consuming lol.

this is a game geared toward greek mythology, gow fans. if you are not a fan of that, I really suggest you return it. The story is the most interesting thing about the game, and the gory qte's, and puzzles

Other than that, its a just another button masher.

I just want to say I'm a big fan of all mythology - especially Greek. And I hated GOW3 more than any other game I've ever played, so I'd say it's more for GOW fans than fans of Greek myth. I think it's only fair that people who have yet to play the game should know that their love of mythology may not necessarily be a deciding factor as to whether or not they'll enjoy the game.

If you haven't played the previous games then I doubt you'll be as drawn in. I didn't like the first game at first but I just kept playing - now its one of my favourite series from Sony, even over Uncharted.

OP: If you have a PS2 stashed away somewhere (or you have one of the BC PS3s), I'd suggest tossing God of War III in the trash and looking for God of War II.

The game is a lot more fun, the art is more enjoyable, and there is more creativity within the first few segments than in the entirety of part three. Yes, it is a button-masher, but somehow two is very enjoyable whereas three sucks.

I only finished number three because I had bought it for my friend (my roommate), and so played it alongside him, and I couldn't believe how dull it was.

God of War III = trash

God of War II = Epic

I appreciate it, except for the part where you claim God of War III is better than II. III sucked so hard that it made porno stars blush.

I played the entire series and GOW 3 was the most disappointing to me. It wasn't a bad game but I didn't enjoy it as much as 2 for sure. The game was beautiful but the story just felt too fast paced. You didn't really have much time to take anything in. By the time you got done fighting another god there was another one 30-45 mins later to make you forget about the last. I know there are people here will say it was greatest achievement on the PS3 in 2010 but I don't feel that way. Great game but not the best in the franchise on an overall aspect IMO.

As for you not liking it, the game is a hack and slash game. You will be doing a lot of button mashing until the end. It is fun but I would give it an hour or two at the most and see how you feel then. But if you never played the first 2 games you will be lost anyway, so that could be reason your not really that into it. If you just flat out don't like the game play from the start I say put it down. If you don't like the game play now you will not like it later.

God of War 3 is awesome but it was short and didn't have enough puzzles in my opinion. I enjoyed the puzzle parts in the God of War serie.

I still bought it and still had a blast with it, the last boss fight and ending was truely EPIC ! oh and the graphics... wow

the question is what type of gamer are you. do you like rpg, racing, action adventure, fighting,or hack n' slash. Everyone have there own taste in game like me , i think FF is nonsense but some people would say it's very awesome.

This.

Anyone who's really into Greek mythology will love this series.

Does button mashing include setting up combos cause i don't think it really applies to this game, fighting games are usually much worse since you keep having to mash a punch or kick button but this game you use a series of buttons to get an outcome... or do if you know what kills the enemies quicker.

You can get through the game simply repeatedly pressing 1 button but thats boring I liked using the combo lists and strnging the combos together to creater even longer more devastating combos.
Also timing the attacks determines what move is executed.

Crap just notied its GOW 3 which I do nto have I am talking from the first 2 games point of view.:bang:

I don't think it did, the boss fights were easily the best yet and the whole first 1hr is some of the most epic scenes ever created in a video game EVER!

Generic adventure games with only 1 or 2 attack buttons are much worse than GOW which has a rather skillful system and you are forced to apply to it in the harder difficulties.

I would hang on buddy.

Trust me, I find the fights boring too but as you progress, you get better weapons and it does get fun to a certain point...I don't care about art or whatever...the best thing about this game are the bosses.

If you don't like the bosses then this game is definitely not for you. Love the bosses.

1 Segment?! Unless the mere mention of mythological characters makes you nauseous or Dora the Explorer and Imagine Babyz are your two favorite games ever, I dont see how you could dismiss GOW3 after 1 segment. The art style, for one, isn't really radical or anything(unless you're referring to the gratuitous gore) so I don't see how it could be that off-putting. The gameplay, in the long run, is well varied and paced mixing in puzzles throughout.

As far as the mythology goes, it's not like it's forcing you to appreciate it or shoving it down your throat, it's not going to quiz you or anything at the end of the game. I'm just not seeing where it could have let you down with it being so well polished and masterfully composed, I understand if it's not your type of game but what exactly were you expecting?

What is with all the God of War 3 hate!?!?!?!? GoW3 was easily my 2010 goty, followed by Heavy Rain and Red Dead Redemption. It had the most epic bosses ever and the prettiest graphics on a console (sorry Uncharted fanboys, Uncharted 2 is one of my fav games of all time, but GoW3 beats it in graphics). If you don't like badass, gory, epic battles than this game isn't for you. If you're not a pansy and you want to play some of the most epic games of all time I suggest you play the GoW franchise (and I've played everysingle one on PS2, PS3, and PSP)!
