LeBron James is heading back to free agency.

James has told the Miami Heat that he is opting out of the final two years of his contract, a person with knowledge of the matter told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because neither James nor the Heat announced the move.

FOX Sports 1 NBA Insider Bill Reiter confirmed this report.

It does not mean James is leaving the Heat -- but there's no guarantee that he'll be in a Miami uniform next season, either.

"There's no other decision yet," the person told AP.
If he does become a free agent, do you think he will go back to Cleveland?

This was to be expected. Possibly all 3 will renew and take less. Wade certainly should. It wouldn't surprise if he left though, he got less help than in the 07 finals statistically.

I don't know if cavs would be the right fit, the front office is a mess.
Wow! I thought this might happen but wow. Maybe there was something to that tweet his wife put up.
She's vacationing to Akron. If you look 51 weeks ago on her instagram, she said the EXACT same thing.

Why aren't you guys using the NBA Thread?

Anyway, if he leaves its because Miami clustered with the contracts. There's a strong feeling that he's returning to Miami. Tomorrow is Draft Night, we will see from what point the domino drops.
