But how long before Microsoft wants to make people update? They keep pushing their control over people's computers with every move. It may reach that point some day.

by force, i don't mean that they're sending Windows police door to door to make people upgrade on gunpoint. what i mean is that for certain important updates that are essential, they are making them exclusive to the newer upgrades when there's no real reason to do that and that's their indirect way of forcing the masses. why should you upgrade to 10 when you already bought an 8.0 not too long ago? Why can't they give them DX12? I wouldn't be surprised if they cut off Win 7 and 8.1 in the coming years...much sooner than they cut off XP. because they want you on Windows 10.
