A guy has made a PSN app for iPhone/Touch to allow you to see PSN friends online, trophies etc. Here's a post from the guy who made it over on avforums. Looks pretty good and it's only 59p.

I wrote an iPhone/iPod Touch app to show your friends list a few weeks back now, submitted it to Apple and it's actually beaten my Killzone app to approval

Here's some screens:

Available on the store now

Since it's not official Sony, can it be trusted? I mean putting your account details up on it. I'm looking at it right now and although it's only $0.99, there are two reviews and both have written nothing, but have given the app a 1-star rating. I think i'm gonna hold off for now. Something just doesn't seem right to me.

itrophies is a trophy tip app, it's got nothing to do with your personal PSN profile. Completely different apps.

The App only works for UK accounts, so people in the US shouldn't get it.

Of course, I probably wouldn't get it anyways seeing as how most of the reviews for it says it doesn't work and one person says the friends list he gets isn't even his.

Though, on the website posted there's people saying it works fine, so who knows.

How does it work anyway? If the app works like a browser client and parses the HTML code of the PSN website, it won't work anymore as soon as Sony changes the layout or structure of the site.

I was thinking about writing a similar app for Android phones, but that problem held be back from doing it so far.

My apologies, you're right. I was thinking of the free app 'Trophy Guide'.

Tbh this is kind of pointless. I assume you need internet connection to access it, and if you did have internet connection, it'd be easier just going on the playstation network website and looking at ur friends trophies there. It'd be cool if an app was made where you could send messages to your friends, that'd be full of win.

Hi guys, I'm the guy that wrote the app. I can assure you it's completely trust worthy, it only accesses the Sony servers and your user name and password are only ever stored on your iPhone and then only if you tell it to. It's been through the Apple approval process so hopefully that gives you some confidence.

I've got a couple of promotional codes to get it for free (US iTunes store ONLY unfortunately) so if anyone would like one let me know! :)

Not seen that Killzone app, I'll check it out. If you have any codes for the UK store for the PSN app let me know!! Also is there any way you could add messaging to the PSN app or is that out of the question?

For me, personally, this application is useless. I, unlike many, don't care too much about trophies. However, for people who do care about trophies, like Snowwy, for example, this application would come in quite handy at times, I suppose.

Now, like said a few times previously in this thread, if this application gave you the ability to not only view your buddies profile, but also let you message your friends, I think we can all agree that the application would be a masterpiece.

However, the one problem that still lingers, is the fact that you will need an internet connection. And though still being handy at times, messaging your friends while on the road would still be an impossible task.

Unfortunately Apple only do promo codes for the US store (I'm from the UK so I totally understand but it's only 59p if you're curious ;) ). I only have the two codes that falconsfan07 and Goobax have snapped up anyway I'm afraid.

Messaging is currently impossible at the moment i'm afraid but it may well come in future!

I agree messaging is the "Holy Grail" but I personally find it very useful to see if my mates are playing a game before I kick the missus off the TV to join them ;)

Given the internet has an always on internet connection I'm not sure what you mean by your last point...

I never thought of it that way. That would make the application a bit more useful for me than I initially thought.

And the internet connection - What I'm saying is that when you're on the road, you won't have internet, and if the application had messaging, that would be somewhat of an annoyance.

For instance, when my friend is over, he'll sometimes IM using his touch. However, when we leave the house, he'll have to switch over to his phone and text.

But this is something we're all used to dealing with by now, so it isn't that big a deal and something that may never be overcome.
