Allright, first of all, don't look at my post count. I started reading this forum just before E3 '05 took place every day now. I have several gigs on my hard drive worth of footage from a lot of different events (e3 05, tgs 05, gdc 06, e3 06, tgs 06) etc.

I'm not going to talk about myself in this thread though, i (like many of you guys around here) have enjoyed ps1 as well as ps2, i really grow up with the playstation brand and can't wait to get one in march next year when it's comes out in Europe. I enjoyed this forum for a long time, it was a major source for news, there were long discussions about the ps3 and the way sony was dealing with the unveiling of it. But i noticed that just before or after e3, this forum has been going downhill fast. Just a few months ago, i couldn't wait to get to this forum for the latest news and discussions. There was hardly any name calling or bashing in this thread. Off coure, being a ps3 forum, more credit was given to the ps3 but i think x360/wii fans can live with that.

I don't know why it has been going downhill so fast. I guess it's because this forum is getting to big (i still remember when the 10.000 member subscribed to these forums) and to popular to other people. Every day, i see new people popping out from nothing. At first i thought that wouldn't pose a problem (we all starting from postcount 0 haven't we?), but i see a lot of people just registering to say: x sucks, y rules, z ownz, etc. This does not only apply to new members, but also people that have been here for a long time. At first, i thougt i should quote certain people, but i don't want these people to feel attacked personally. I just hope they know that for themselves.

Second thing, the lack of good moderating. I know moderating a forum is hard (i'm mod on a huge forum (175.000 members) myself), but seeing five threads off the same topic and people bashing consoles/other members without being warned or banned. I seriously hope the mods hire some more staff to keep the forum clean cause it's needed pronto. I'm in no way insulting the current mods, i think they have done a relatively good job until now, but this forum is growing too strong and new and good staff is certainly needed asap.

To make things short, this forum has served me very well in the past and i hope it will still do that in the future. I don't want this forum to end up like teamxbox where members are insulting everything from ps3 without hesitation and where there's no room for a good discussion. I want to go back to the old days, i also noticed that a lot of older members like udontneed2know are hardly posting anymore. I seriously hope he hasn't left the forum because he knows it just isn't fun anymore and frankly, i admit i don't like this forum they way it is today.

You can now agree or disagree with me, you can call me names, you can say i'm an idiot, a whiner but honestly i could care less. This forum was a really good one to keep up with the latest news with hardly any bashing/trolling/etc. I just want it to keep it that way for the future so we can all discuss our favourite console/games/other like in the good ol' days.

PS: Yes, i know this isn't a ps3 discussion topic, but i'm posting it here because:
1. hardly anyone reads the suggestions thread.
2. mods and members read this part of the forum the most and i think the current problems should be adressed to everyone.

PS2: In advance, i would like to say english isn't my native language. I don't think many people would understand a word i'd say if i write the thing in dutch. I thus apoligise for the bad english and hope the message is still clear.

There was certainly need for a mod a few hours ago, which had a lot of material not suitable for underage kids.

i think we can safely say we won't turn in to team xbox forums. You hardley ever hear a bad mouth about xbox (from the experienced members anyway).

That's because Narutoboy's back :D, i kid. The only thing i've seen change is the activity rate not quality, but that's probably because i'm fairly new.

Regardless of how many fanboys we have on either side, how many trolls, ect. This is the best forum you can find in comparison to many of the others. Most people on either side of the fence are civil about their discussion. I have yet to see 360 fans and ps3 fans get along so well anywhere else on the internet, So even though we have our moments, I think its safe to say, theres nowhere else any of us would rather be.

That's true. The official Playstation boards is littered with so many trolls you can barely breath and the mods are so corrupt, so it definitely beats that. Xbox.com, well that place isn't active, it takes like an hour to get two responses. Those are the only places i've visited besides a few back in 1999-2003 and this is better. I'm upset that the mods downgraded this place though in terms of features. Was I dreaming or wasn't their a shop at one time?

Well, I am one of the new guys and my observations so far have been mostly positive. I especially like that 360 and Wii don't get bashed in the ground. Look at the game threads, there are rather few comparisons around, as soon as someone starts saying stuff like "Take that Gears of War" another member tells him that the thread is not about bashing the 360. However, as we near the PS3 launch I have to admit that the discussions are heating up a bit and too be honest, I'm not surprised. I think we have to live with that until the situation cools down. Beginning next year the PS3 should steer away from the rough waters and that will have an effect on these forums as well. So although I partially agree with you I still see this forum way, way above teamxbox und gamespot.

When TGS came and the xbox fans seen the videos they started trolling I guess they couldn't take it I went to the XBox side and it was only 10 people over there they was all on the PS3 side spamming the threads.

I'm new here as a poster and account member, but I've been reading since E3. I can see why people are complaining about the trolls, but it doesn't seem that bad compared to the other major gaming sites. The mods seem to be on top of things and close threads pretty fast when they stray off course. Just my $.02 :)

Totally agreed, but the moderation of the forum still need some polishing and the rebelious individuals needs to get taken care of.

I'm relatively new here, but even in the short time I have been reading the posts and such here, I've noticed a distinct drop in quality and credibility of the news and other posts. People are just posting anything that comes to mind, in an effort to get attention. I do miss the excitement I had when I first came here, and I don't think (at this rate) that it will be back.

Aww that's just so cute. Good luck on things in the future.

Joking aside, this forum is just fine the way it is. I mean, it could be better, but it could be a lot worse, like most other gaming forums.

People just need a better sense of humor, seems like a mod fetish is gripping everyone and they feel an obligation to come out and tell someone that their thread has been made efore, or fearlessly defending the PS3 even if it means they'd have to throw out some hurtful insults.

If everyone just relaxed, the world would be a better place (even though saying this on a forum is as well as playing music to a cow)

That was a good post Mich. I think you have raised some good points here.

I’d first like to point out that I personally feel that even after TGS and E3, the forum has maintained a good standard of posting and moderating even as we continue to grow. I hope this will continue to be the case and that this forum will further solidify its position as home to intelligent gaming debate.

It’s our policy to be harsh on fanboysim, trolling, flaming etc for good reason – we want this forum to stay ahead of the rest. You have my word that on my watch, this forum will never sink to the depths of other poorly maintained forums that exist on the web because we have a strict set of principles which we look for our Moderators to uphold – which is to actively promote intelligent debate and to denounce stupidity and spamming.

We will be hiring plenty of new Moderators soon to help cope with the speed at which we are growing and we are going to be on the look out (as we always are). So I hope that we can at least try our best to help keep PS3Forums.com as it was when it was smaller; a great place for finding PS3 Information without the aggravation of fanboys and flamewars.

Great job Mich. I am of those people that dont post much but love reading when the guys like aleman, firefox, the_one and lefein go at it becuase there is always to learn from those guys, but lately I dont see them post much anymore and now you see some guys just post countless and useless threads. It has come to the point that I dont even look at the topic of the threads, all I have to do is look at who post it and thats enough for me to decide if Im going read it or not. Sorry to say this, but "Killahsouljah" is one of them. I didnt want to mention names, but I couldn't help myself. Sorry if offended you with that "killasouljah", but Im just being honest.

I dont know why, but listening to Morph is like listening to Phil Harrison to me... :)
 JK.
I see everyones point. The forums are starting to flood with stupid posters and really lame xbots...Really, i wouldnt give a penny for any of those. They speak, with no backup, and there is no way you can even change their mind...Anyway, i find it annoying.

Agreed with PANDA too. If everyone was relaxed on the forums, it would be a lot better, but i think TGS has made the difference between PS3 fanboys to Xbox fanboys...Seriously, why cant they post good? Why cant they give their opinon i a good way?

Or in case they post a well composed opinion with screens, links and facts, why there is always a fanboy chasing him around about his answer?

Maybe it's because - like Mr Harrison - We both want great things - He wants a great PS3 and I want a great PS3 Forum! :)

I second Morpheus' reply. This forums has dropped in quality. To help stop that decline, people have got to start reporting members to the Senior Members Counsil and Moderators. Since there seems to be a lack of Mods at the moment, reporting to the SMC would be the smartest choice.

If the members want change, they have to change.

Yeah. I do my best to report threads. I usually hunt people because of oversized signatures...Sometimes, flames, or stuff like that. But i did not know i could report to SMCs too.
I will have it on mind next time :D

Agreed. This forum would be just as bad as all of the others if the mods and SMCs didnt maintain control. You guys (and ladies) have done an excellent job. :D
