Right now there's an online retailer here in Sweden that has a RTX3080 12GB card on sale for just a little bit over $700 (including tax), the original price is about $1050, it's 33% off. It's the lowest price a 3080 has been so far here in Sweden. I'm really tempted to get it, but I have absolutely no experience with the brand and I pretty much don't know anything about the model. It's a "PNY RTX3080 Gaming Revel Epic-X 12GB". I know about the brand PNY, but I don't have any personal experience with their products.

So, I'm hoping that someone here has som experience or just have some advice regarding getting this card.

I'd wait. The Ethereum Merge is taking place tomorrow night. Ethereum will be moving to Proof of Stake and will no longer be mineable. Sure, many miners will just move to Ergo or something like Ravencoin, but I have a feeling the GPU market is about to be flooded with RTX 3080's and 3090's. Definitely don't buy one. You don't want a GPU that was used as a mining work horse. However, because of the influx of supply, I'd imagine overall prices to come down for GPU's. Plus, I think Nvidia's 4000 series cards are about to hit the market soon too.

My guess is you can probably wait another month or so and get an RTX 3080 for under $600 soon. Or wait until Black Friday.

Yeah, I'm definitely not going to buy a used (mining) card, you don't know what condition those cards are in and you don't get any warranty. And I kind of want them to be stuck with those cards. So the only chance that I would buy a used (mining) card at all is if they pretty much gave them away.

I don't think the prices will be as low as $600 (including tax) here, but I can see prices in the range of $650-$700 (including our tax).

The 4000-cards are not really an option for me. Most likely they will be more expensive, draw more power and be really hard to get in the beginning.

The offer on this card is up until the 30th this month or ends if they are sold out. But so far it doesn't seem like people are rushing to buy it. So, I probably have at least a few days more to decide if I'm going to buy this card or wait for a better deal/card.

Well, now for some reason the card is not available any more. It has been saying 100+ in stock for several days now. And then I noticed that it went up to it's original price, $1050, and later they just took it off the site completely. Must have been something wrong with the site. Anyhow, that means I don't need any more advice regarding this card. I'll just have to wait until the next deal shows up.

That's a bummer, i was gunna say mining cards tend to be fine picked up after even heavy use. The core doesn't wear, and they're typically run undervolted to save money (at least this is what was said when i picked up an old mining card down this end of the world). So they're basically fine. If someone was going to find out if the card was spitting out errors, it would have been the miner.

4000 series is around the corner tho. I haven't really followed, but from the little i have heard they seem pretty sweet. From a perf. standpoint at least. The power consumption seemed eye watering tho lol...
