New ads in product names (even for subscribers), get rid of them.

I just noticed, to my knowledge, a new ad behavior. In a product name the forum automatically ads a link to a product search. In the example case I provide (see below) the product spelled out is an iPhone 4 and clicking the name leads you, after some hoops via advertisers, to an eBay search for iPhone:

And here's the URL to the product search with some referrals in it: http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=iphone4&clk_rvr_id=241313349527&afsrc=1

In my opinion, this type of advertising is counter productive since it can be easily believed to be the author of a post or thread making those links instead and it is extremely tacky. I think you should consider getting rid of these ads for everyone but as a subscriber in particular I do not expect to see these type of ads.If money is the issue, I'd rather donate an amount chosen by you to not have to see them.

99% of the reason I subscribe is to not have to deal with ads and I'm very disappointed to see ads when an ad free experience was guaranteed for subscribers when I subscribed.

EDIT: After posting I even see the forum software makes a link to eBay in my post even though I did not consent to this. Please stop this madness this is the type of thing that seriously pisses me off.

Make sure to turn off any ad-blocking software you have to see it, I first saw it on my iPad and was able to confirm on my computer by turning off some ad-blockers I run.

those kind of adverts are complete bull**** fullstop and we should really not have them on the site, they just make it tacky and can make browsing harder. adverts on the side are ok because they do not obstruct posting much at all, but the ones that highlight the text and provide links are just awful.

Exactly, I feel our posts here should be ours and not theirs I don't want my words to represented in a way I didn't mean them to be. What's the point posting if I can't ensure the quality of my posts?
Those adverts suck hard, and i'm still seeing an Assassins Creed advert background even though i'm subbed.
We subs need to put our foots down on these ads, we pay not to see ads it's unacceptable that we do get ads although we subscribe. At the very least, give us the offer to give you guys more money on top of our subscriptions to not see ads.

And if you are going to introduce ads to subscribers, you really should have informed us in the subs thread about this before it rolled out to have our take on it. Frankly, I find this disrespectful.
I fail to see what the issue is lol
The issue is that the marketing people behind PSU thinks they can tamper with members posts without informing us and that they serve ads to subscribers whom pay not to see ads.

the issue is your not receiving a service that (if you are a sub) you pay for. which is not cool. as for the ads in posts, kinda anoying, and we dont have a real argument, but they are cheapening, and probably do more harm than good.

Its already been shown that Mods are like cops..capable of stopping ****, but lacking the power to change or fix an issue. The most a mod can do is report it to Mr. B. And wait till he fixes it.

No. Trib, and cuguy do not have access to the actual site Administration items such as advertising etc. They can only administer the forum itself. Only the owner has access to the actual behind the scenes items such as this.

Hence why people are stating that it needs to be brought up with mr. B.

First off... guys you don't have to make such a massive dramatic thread about stuff like this. Just freaking send me a PM or email, let me know your concerns and I'll address them.

Is it completely fair for subscribers not to see this? Absolutely. That's why you subscribe. So I have removed it, if it doesn't work let me know and I will make sure its gone for you.

If you don't subscribe, we're going to advertise to you. That's how this whole thing works. You choose to pay for a service or look at advertising, and frankly I think that is quite reasonable!

Always willing to work with you guys though, you can any time even if I'm not cruising around the site hit me up by email. [email protected]. I'm always open to suggestions and working to come to agreements on issues!

Yes we have to make threads about it, why not let more members in on the subject.

As for advertising, everyone knows that's how you make money on the Internet but I still don't feel anyone have the right to add links in my posts. How do you feel about that? I mean if I make a post I put my username behind it I don't want the software to add links to eBay in my posts. People will think I'm adding them.

lol, I almost went to call Mr. Bishop a noob there with his comment. Should know this forum well enough by now to know the members freak out over every little change and will riot over the tiniest things sometimes.

On a side note though, the timing on a response is incredible since when I was last around, and even though you have no idea who I am I do have to give mr. Bishop props on that aspect, and that simple reason is why I consider this forum in a way better state then it was way back when ^^ I loved it then, and I am quickly falling back in love with it again.

Miss the ol subscribers thread still though, will have to do something about it. Then again, my post count was crazy in there, might not be a good thing to have access again lol.

With all due respect to you and Mr.Bishop this isn't a small thing, not in anyway. How the forum deals with my posts and what is considered mine and their's in relation to the content I produce is a big deal to me. In fact, it's a deal breaker.

I don't see why you need to be patronizing in every thread you post in, yes you were a mod but you don't need to belittle everyone else because of that.

Staff and former staff need to get over themselves, it's not flattering.
