new trailer was released yesterday, saw threads about it on Gametrailers and my jaw hit the floor from the awesomeness in this trailer:

spoilers about trailer:
that giant walking towards the player was amazing XD
Also loving the environmental hazards and executions, definately has the difficulty from demon souls intact. :D
I also love the way that Garl Vinland like Samurai enemy lands infront of that boss, epic.

Release Date: October 2011

My jaw was on the floor on this part. How the hell do we fight this? lol. It's a totally different scenario to certain boss in the first game. For one, that one didnt move arounf after you on a really narrow environment agressively. XD

The tower knight just got owned

I'm guessing you'll have to knock it off balance like the tower knight. That thing looks intimidating.

When they started to show the player getting killed the lyrics "let the bodies hit the floor, let the bodies hit the floor" very appropriately started playing in my mind. I must say, this does look AMAZING!

That looked unbelievable. I don't know if I'll be getting this day one as Skyrim comes out in November and I've been just as eagerly anticipating that game. I guess I'll let E3 decide.

Well, this comes out the previous month, so it gives you/me/all of us some time with it before Skyrim hits

The only reason I say that is because I know I will not be able to beat Dark Souls in a month. But I'll probably take your advice and get it on day one and just play them at the same time.

This is not supposed to be an inflammatory post but to me, this seems the same as the first one, which is fine but I was honestly expecting a lot more.

No doubt, it seems like a worthy sequel but I felt that DS was kind of restrictive. They could really expand a lot more, making the game really bad ***. When they mentioned expansive worlds, I was expecting just that, expansive worlds. So far I saw none of that, seems like it'll be level-based again.

Skyrim is more along the lines of what I want.

I had high hopes for this title, ah well. Not thoroughly impressed (so far) but then again, this is not my kind of game anyway.

Not my cup of tea either. Skyrim is the day one purchase that I'm looking forward to.

no worries, I also agree that Skyrim is bigger and more expansive that Dark Souls based on what we know and their previous games. Although, in Dark Souls case it'll still have that claustrophobic feel to it even though the areas are all seamlessly connected and I doubt it will have open areas like fields or hills when one of the core mechanics is making you feel trapped and as though you cant run anywhere if you wanted to (kinda like the swamp in demon souls, i think it was world 5-2).

I'm looking forward to E3 though as I'm hoping they demonstrate just how expansive the world is. For now, they've only really talked into detail about the vertical-ness where if you fall down a hole outside, you could end up in a completely different dungeon and they have stated one of their focuses is exploration.

Either way, cant wait for both games. :D

The game was amazing no doubt. I had the most fun playing single player in that game. The note system in the game was clever and really fun to read and it actually fit right in the gameplay.

After I was done once, I felt that the game didn't have longevity for me. I don't mind the smaller areas at all, I just want a better combat system (which was fine for single player but horrible for online), basically I want a better online system and I kinda hate how your buddies glow silver/blue/red...it looks kinda cheesy and takes away from the immersion level...but I understand the purpose for it.

I don't want it to be like Skyrim at all. I'd rather have Skyrim than a game trying to be it. So yea, we'll see as it unfolds, I was expecting bigger environments and a much better combat system, maybe they did upgrade it and it's not shown well. We'll see. Also, a better leveling system won't hurt either.

if only this game had a very strong narrative, it would make the experience soooooo much better... I mean I want to care about saving the world, Demon Souls lacked that but the gameplay more then made up for it... but to me if the gameplay is so immense then you need to do justice to the whole experience by having a strong story.

Demon souls was very weird when it came to its narrative. one of my main reasons for playing games is for the story, I've usually always prioritised that above the actual gameplay. However, Demons Souls was one of those few games that persuaded me to ignore that.

But it did fit. You were a nameless soldier/ wizard etc who was killed and then revived and bound to the nexus to fight on behalf of the black maiden. The world was empty in terms of its civilisation, on its last legs before the fog took over completely. With only a few survivors scattered sparingly. I thought it worked quite well and enhanced the atmosphere and tone of the game. You werent there to make friends, you were there to crush the enemy and then get crushed by another and so on.

atmosphere was/is incredible. almost no music, it's just you in a almost dead world.

the game really made you feel like you were in Boletaria, just a man, fighting evil.

with all this talk of Darksouls, had to go visit Demon's Souls again.
man, what a great game. truly a gem.
to me, so far, probably the best game on the PS3.

can't wait til Darksouls. I'm so psyched!

You know what's even more awesome than watching this trailer? NOT watching the trailer! I can't wait to be TOTALLY surprised by everything I encounter in the game. I want to be a complete innocent upon first venturing into this world as I was for Demon's Souls. NOTHING can compare to that first taste of the unknown. I encourage all to follow me in this self-imposed media blackout.
