“Fable 2” will be a true sequel to the wildly successful original that sold more than 3 million copies, offering even more choices and building on the core gameplay theme of “Fable” where players’ every decision continually defines who they become. “Fable 2” is an action role-playing game that truly allows players to live the life they choose in an unimaginably open world environment.

Set 500 years after the original, “Fable 2” will provide gamers with an epic story and innovative real-time gameplay, including a massive amount of freedom and choice to explore a vast collection of dungeons, catacombs and caves in the world of Albion.

Features:
Features include the following:

• Choices, consequences. The innovative gameplay pioneered in the original “Fable” provided gamers with a never-before-seen level of immersion in a truly interactive world. “Fable 2” expands on the scope and depth of the Xbox® classic with incredible new features and a wider, more complex kingdom of limitless choices and consequences. Players will have the option to play as a man or woman, get married, have children, and live a life of their own design.

• A land far, far away. Revisit the sprawling world of Albion, where every house, hut, dungeon and castle is for sale, more than 500 years after the events of the original “Fable.” Players will witness how the world has grown and changed in incredible and unique ways as they rediscover Albion.

• New and unique combat system. “Fable 2” pioneers a new combat system that is designed to allow players to truly master hand weapons such as swords and maces, ranged combat such as bows and guns, and an entirely new magic system. These three disciplines, while being very accessible, are also amazingly deep and allow players to mix combat styles and become everything from a master swordsman or skilled ranger to an evil magic-wielder.

• A hero’s best friend. This groundbreaking addition to the game is integral to the theme of unconditional love in “Fable 2.” The canine companion will act as friend, compass and protector. Players merely feed their pooch and it will love unconditionally, creating a bond that sets up emotion-filled journeys throughout this magical world.

The graphics aren't too good but I really like the art direction they have taken, the screen with the house at night being illuminated by the lamps looks really nice not graphically but stylistically.

Just like in the Mass Effect situation these are just bad screens, people were worrying just like now. Since when does gameplay (from Developers Diary) that we've seen get down graded?

This game has cracked my top 5 most anticipated.

Also, I don't think it's been downgraded, it's just that they're showing off new environments they've been working on. I'm sure the path we saw from GDC looks better, and so will these once the release gets closer.

"Downgraded" or not, I think it looks great. The graphics suit the art style well. Nice lighting.

I know it may sound weird, but this game convinces me to buy a 360.
I remember playing the 1st game 16 hours straight from start to finish.
Yes...I had no life that day.

what I hated about the first one was that whatever you did....

DIDNT AFFECT THE STORY LINE WHATSOEVER!

try and understand this....

I can slaughter an entire towns and murder guards on a daily basis but I can spend only 4 mins at a altar and just dump my money and walla! I'm good again

didn't help that I was kept called a hero even though I was a total *******
add to the fact that weapons, armor and character customization was severely limited. Oblivion took the idea of Fable and made it even better (negate the fact that there's no aging in oblivion and it's good). Finally the game was too damn short and bonus missions didn't really entice me to actually explore I just did em for money and nuthin more

I felt more a mercenary than some anti-hero or plain hero that the game was portraying

okay, maybe I made it a lil too obvious that I was disappointed in the game in all it's entirety and hype

so sue me ;)

I really like the art direction of this game. It's got an exagerated look and angles to it, which is nice. Kind of reminds me of a Monkey Island kind of art direction, at least a bit.

Not sure if I like the idea that you can buy anything if you have enough money. Buying any dungeon? I dunno. Seems like they're making it too open ended. It kind of reminds me of Star Wars Monopoly. You could buy the Deathstar... :?/

Looks good though. As long as they don't focus too much on "love" crap and buying anything, and just put a great story in there, it should be great. :)

The first fable was great but also the most exaggerated game ever, I learned from fable not to get into the hype from games. If they could make fable free-roaming it would be ridicously cool, and make a last boss that isn't a joke.

Fable was by far my best experience on the original Xbox. Fable 2 has my vote of confidence.

Id say MASSIVELY upgraded seeings though the last thing that was shown was just the one guy running round in a crapply textured field with an unfinished dog!

THis looks tons better, and still in pre alpha stages!
