I'm not really sure on this to be honest, I liked the online in Killzone 2 and the campaign when it was just about shooting stuff but the writing was terrible and the story felt dull all the way through and this trailer feels the exact same. I honestly don't even remember one name of any of the characters of killzone 2 even though I finished it. It just doesn't feel very epic at all even though that is clearly what they are aiming for here.

Really hope they have learnt from killzone 2 though, while I think something like uncharted 2 looks amazing killzone 2 was just a step a head of it in the graphic department and all it needs to really make it a classic is a good story.

Are you serious? From the trailer alone it looks like there's a much thicker plot and more character interaction. Killzone 2 was rather generic, but this actually looks like something.

Well it might feel epic playing through it but not knowing or giving a **** about the characters it's hard to feel anything from this trailer. The melodramatic voice acting right from the start "They are going to find us, it's just a matter of time" Didn't exactly help.

I'm not going to keep discussing it though, I think people got my opnion now so I will let all the killzone lovers get their space to orgasm wildly. ;)

That was generic. But I sensed tension between the two new characters in the trailer and I really liked that. Saying it's the same as KZ2 though seems a bit silly.

I don't know how you can say that, that looks the most epic story for a Shooter I have seen in a long while. Sounds much better, and longer too! I can't believe how many set pieces that looked good in there, and you just know they wouldn't have shown the best one!

I wanted to say something like that but i can get too exited when i let it go... This is probably the most epic trailer for a shooter i've seen, all consoles considered. It looks like a playable movie.

Based on this trailer alone it looks like there's going to be a much greater focus on narration for the single player campaign this time.

It's funny when you consider that the first Killzone actually did a decent job of involving you in the struggles of its characters. Killzone 2 really did seem to do away with all that in favor of gratuitous vulgarity.

Anyway, regarding that video: OH MY SWEET JESUS!

Yeah OP, what the hell are you on man? That trailer was epic. This is going to be the best shooter on any platform for quite some time IMHO. I can't wait to play this with the Move and Sharpshooter :D Long live PS3...

Awesome trailer, happy I already have Killzone 3 pre-ordered. Opposed to some people, I love the "generic" feel of Killzone, except I rather think it's Iconic rather than Generic. Epic, when I saw the tiny 4 second clip of KZ3 at CES I knew we'd get a trailer soon. Jaw dropping stuff here. At the moment this is my most anticipated game (Uncharted 3 is too far away at the moment).

Also, right off the top of my head, names from KZ2 are:
Sev
Narville
Rico
Natko
Garza
Evelyn
Visari
Radec

Although I must admit I've played KZ2 recently out of hype for KZ3.

WOW, that is one of the best trailers ive seen,.

You can really tell that they have focused on the SP mode.

The story, graphics, the things with the blade at the end, the gigantic beast type vehicles and many more things in the trailer look epic!!

Ooohh, I like the internal political war thing they've got going on there. Makes a change from the all-powerful cultist types we usually see leading enemy armies.

This could turn into a sleeper hit story-wise, but then... those voices :(

Just watched the trailer again, KZ3 looks way better than KZ2 lol. I'm loving the internal struggles on both sides, new awesome enemy types, amazing graphics and voice acting, facial capture is obviously improved, very colorful but not too overly colorful like R2 or Halo, epic explosions everywhere, and that fight night style punch was awesome. Seriously my most anticipated game at the moment.

Exactly. It adds some needed depth to the Helghast side.

i think it was pretty good. though i can see where someone might call it generic since the "hey i have to survive this onslaught of super soldiers" thing has been done A LOT. still though a visible power struggle, slaughter of men, gratuitous violence, and being able to go about all this with the sharpshooter/move i think i'd enjoy it and would probably get pretty sucked into it.

I really don't get the whole generic argument when it comes to Killzone. If by generic you mean extremely realistic, I would go with that. The way the characters move, the environments...all scream real. Killzone is set in a future that seams like it could really happen. I'm sorry you don't have a supersuit and there aren't purple and pink aliens all over the place. It is it's own type of game, and I respect that.

Killzzone 2 is not extremely realistic. I'll agree it's more realistic than most shooters though. But it's still just a superficial shooter where people regenerate from bullet holes and you gun down enemies in sometimes overly gory ways. I always thought Killzone 2 felt generic because there was zero depth to the situation we were in. It was hard to care for the ISA soldiers or feel negative towards the enemies in KZ2. They were just blatant cannon fodder that you slew from room to room. The lack-luster story didn't help the situation either. Just my opinion, of course. But I'm not the only one with that opinion either.

This trailer is pretty well done I must say. Even if those are the only intense, story moments in the game it will be an improvement over KZ2

To the OP- I agree with you about KZ2, it had a dull story. What was really sad about it was that the killzone universe has such a rich backstory. Tbh that was the downfall of KZ2 to me. Everything was there but the story. It was a complete straightforward, march to go kill visari basically. This seems to have a bit more depth with power struggles on both sides of the war. ISA wanting to surrender, ground soldiers wanting to continue the fight. Two prominent Helghan politicians jockeying for power. Makes for an interesting story if you ask me...

I'm not so sure if Rapture has played the first Killzone but if he hasn't his comments would make a lot of sense. TBH if you think about it unicron, KZ2 had no real points that MADE you care about the characters. I, for one, don't like having to TRY to care about the characters. The game should do that for me. The first Killzone had such a good story but a lot of people didnt play a killzone until the 2nd and didnt know much about the backstory.

I wasn't referring to story. I was referring to just the feeling of a generic shooter while playing, which I never got. Gameplay. The story was lacking, but I'm talking about the actual mechanics of the game. Which I felt were spot on.

now THAT was an awesome trailer!

I like the new bad guys (the politicians), there is a nice sense of character to them.
